Special place to eat in New York

I can't vouch for this personally but a client of mine told me about a place called Al Fiori (?) One of the best there is, apparently. I haven't a clue about anything else about it.

I need to check my emails to see if I've got the name right, but I'm pretty sure I have. He sent me a list when we planned to go last Christmas but it got knocked on the head due to work commitments.

The thing with restaurants in big cities, is that the quality can change so quickly. A fantastic restaurant can be poo within weeks. I was there a few years back and the best meals I had we're the small, family owned ones. The portions were ridiculous massive. I had a bucket of clam chowder in one place. New York, without doubt is an amazing city. I'm planning a trip back soon.

Obviously depends if you like the theatre but how about not going to such a fancy restaurant and having a nice meal followed by a Broadway show instead? Langans on 47th St (between 6th and 7th Ave's) is a great little restaurant (bar too) for a pre-theatre meal and you are just a short walk to the theatres.
