CarMad
So first race of the season, Mercedes look the class of the field but Mclaren, Redbull and Ferrari don't look that far behind. Redbull seem to have resolved many of their issues but they finished the second session with what looked like an over heating issue again, so it will be interesting to see how they do in the race. Its going to be a very interesting season and at last its about to start.
jimdiesel
I watched FP1 and FP2 and am now very tired. Looks much closer than testing made it appear.
Torino101
Red Bulls may have upped the pace, but don't see them finishing in AUS.
CarMad
Yeah apparently the Red bull guys have apparently re-written the software that Renault created themselves and lots of things are now sorted.
Lussac
There was a picture of the Red Bull after the second practice session with what looked like a large heat related blister above the side pod. Not sure if it'll last the whole race if the heat at that hot-spot is that bad, but what do I know!!!
Luke
How did the cars sound on tv?
Mook
Not that loud - you don't need mufflers at the track-side apparently. Two mates are down there and have posted vids on FB. They sound OK, but not great.
Luke
I'm watching a replay of FP2. There is hardly any sound at all, bloody terrible. Massive disappointment. Who ever thought this was a good idea has got it massively wrong.

Andy_Bangle
Keeps trying to rain ATM. The cars don't sound bad just different, on the plus side with the extra toque and other changes the back ends are more lively. In the last 3 turns they've been laying plenty of rubber down Now watching the 911 Challenge - these sound more like the old f1 cars. Torino101
The cars sound dreadful! Thought there was a problem with my speakers. Oh and haha Vettel.
Twinspark
Is JB the most unlucky man in F1? - whenever there's some kind of incident during qualifying, it always seems to cost him his quickest lap. We've been robbed of 2 very quick drivers at the front as they had to lift for the Kimi incident.
Luke
Great Quali, really enjoyed that. The sound isn't being picked up on TV, Andy. Lots of people saying the cars are to quiet. Brundle saying the noise is ok but it's way too quiet.
Andy_Bangle
Yes, they are quiter but you've got to remember this a new era of racing - V8, V10, V6, turbo or non-turbo all have their unique sounds. It was a great quali and a large thunder storm held off long enough (I got soaked), tomorrow is going I be cooler and maybe wetter. Every time Dan put in the quickest time a huge cheer went up however, the biggest cheer was reserved for Seb's time. Tipex
The cars sound awful, Mrs T normally hates the sound of F1 cars, but even she asked why we couldn't hear them.
Torino101
The might sound ok in the flesh Andy, but i promise you on TV it's literally as though they've edited out the engine noise. Fecking awful.

Andy_Bangle
Daniel has been disqualified! Exceeding the fuel supply, red bull are currently appealing it. http://bit.ly/1cMceG5 fantastic driving from Botas. Riots of the streets of Oz tonight? CarMad
Yeah I think they are going to appeal the appeal but reading the full FIA transcript they do seem to have been naughty. The fuel sensor had been having issues but they agreed to offset the reading and Redbull agreed. However during the race they started to use more than the allowed amount but when asked to drop consumption they have ignored the FIA. I think they believe that their sensors are providing better readings than the FIAs and are happy to fight the case after the race rather than during it. Either that or they really have used more than 100Kg/h and thats why Ricardo was able to stay at the sharp end. Either way it was a weird race but Bottas certainly helped to make it interesting that Willams looks pretty good if they can qualify better. Luke
Great to see a Williams actually overtaking cars again, even Ferraris. If BottomArse hadn't brushed the wall he may have got 3rd. Positive for the team though and the car looks great.
Cuprabob
A few back ends snatching away due to the torque coming out of corners so that shod make Monaco interesting. Magnusson looked like a class act as did the Russian 19 yr old Kayat (sp?) Edited March 16, 2014 by Cuprabob
