Audi RS3 Press Release

I wouldn't let kids near a nice, new RS3. Well, my kids anyway. They're not overly messy, but boy the car looks wrecked after they've been in it.

I would advise getting a car that you don't worry too much about and a nice car for you to enjoy.

Leather, makes EVERYTHING :secret: nice and wipe clean.

I don't see the point of making life hard for yourself so personally a smaller car just gives you less options and more hassle. The wifes new 2 series is going great guns, really really nice to drive and plenty of punch from the engine and it sounds good. Plus she is getting 45+ mpg out of it and its got plenty of space inside and in the boot for all of our needs.

My little boy is 5 soon and he loves helping me wash the car, I've even taught him to wash the sponge if he drops it on the floor he does a pretty good job and loves helping, long may it continue. So as a result he keeps nice and clean inside and out well mostly anyway. +++

We did ok with the Golf (5 door) and two kids. It got battered though. In the end it it was too small though and then we got two pugs!

The wife's Kia Sportage thingy is a good compromise as its plenty big enough for 90% of the time. If we go on a stayover we chuck the roofbox on for extra room.

The best thing is that it's not too big. You can still park it easily enough and it doesn't feel like a tank.

This takes me back to when I was much younger.

We have relatives in Switzerland and when we went across to see them we were taken around in an Audi 200 Turbo. It certainly shifted but made such a good noise. I think it was then that I decided that it was so much nicer to get a car with a good nice sounding engine. I wish Audi did more models that made a nice sound personally.

I *think* Richard_Ws first Audi was a 200 Avant quattro straight five

Audi have definitely started fitting fruitier exhausts on of standard.  Cars like the B6 B7 S4, R8 V8, C6 V10, waaaaaaaay to quiet.  R8 V10, B8 RS5 and RS4, C7 RS6 and now the 8V RS3, MUCH better!

I wish they'd put the straight five in the B8 S4 (I don't think it was quite ready before that engine first arrived in the TT and RS3 circa 2010) and sadly the next gen B9 S4 looks like it will get the B8 engine carried over pretty much unchanged.

I know what you mean - as I mentioned the other day, the sound of the car is important

I think a test drive will be on the cards a long with the Golf R420 when it eventually arrives :)

Who's R420 are you going to Test Drive, Riz!?

Oh, saw you in VW Driver too - got the impression from the article you quite like your car!!

When Volkswagen bring the Golf R420 out next year hopefully.

Spec'd up my idea Audi RS3 spec.... comes in at over £50k :o That's second hand Audi RS4 money.

Yes, really like the Golf GTI.... I am just going to stick with it as long as possible, a lot say I can make do with 3 doors on a Golf with baby etc. :)

I looked a bit further into the Audi RS3 boot space and my figure posted was incorrect, according to the Audi material its only 280 litres, this is due to it having a 60 litre fuel tank and the fact the car battery is located in the boot for better weight distribution.

Audi RS3 Sportback = 280 litres

Volkswagen Golf R = 343 litres

Volkswagen GTI = 380 litres

:)

Looking in the boot of an RS3 the other day, I thought the boot was the same as photo I posted of the higher boot?  All quattro models have the larger fuel tank - its no bigger in the RS3.  And the under boot floor looked the same to me, the B&O sub etc.  However I'll try and find a pic!

Audi RS3's title didn't last long, AMG announced revised A45, now has 381bhp and a optional real limited slip differential :o

Audi RS3 Plus anybody?

Pay all that money and you still only get a 4 cylinder engine from AMG.....  yuk!

Pay all that money and still only get a small Audi (with a fab engine note).......  And subjectively, better looks!

Still a lot of money eitherway.

What are the servicing intervals for that AMG?! is it like the Evos of old with 5k servicing?

381bhp from 2 litres is one stressed engine.

(My wife's Juke with a turbo 1.6 petrol has servicing intervals every 10k kms or 6k miles which is utterly ridiculous and a PITA)

Looks the same to me.  Source of RS3 boot pic linked below..... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/audi/rs3/91793/audi-rs3-sportback-2015-uk-pictures

Non-RS3, but with higher boot floor due to quattro / B&O / towing equipment (pic I posted on previous page)

They took an RS3 up the hill at Goodwood yesterday. It sounded great, really great.

We looked on the Audi stand and found two, one blue and one burnt orange. They looked pretty good tbh. Not stunning but pretty complete. Just wished they had wider arches.

The new R8 was there. OMFG! now that was pretty immense. The interior was stunning.
