Andy_Bangle
Any Patently can do ... GT driver Laurens Vanthoor was lucky to escape this huge accident during the Qualifying Race at the weekend’s Blancpain GT race at Misano. The Audi driver got a great run on Jules Szymkowiak’s Bentley but when pulling off the overtake, the two drivers collided resulting in a heavy impact into the wall for Vanthoor. Vanthoor is set to miss the final round of the championship at Zandvoort to fully recover from this monster shunt.

patently
Ooooh, not good. You can see those awful moments when he knows the wall is coming and must be bracing himself thinking "going to hurt, going to hurt". He has my sympathy I remain amazed at how much punishment race cars can take. We all knew Thruxton was fast and scary before we went, and it didn't disappoint - my impact was one of the more minor cases from the six cars that were damaged. All drivers fine, though - the worst-affected is in for observation but reports that he is ok.

So he's in hospital telling everyone he's a racing driver and free bed-baths whether he needs them or not and you're, well, here
