patently
Yes, the racing season is over and I have to hang up the racing driver outfit and go back to my suit and office job. I'll have to wait until next March before I can go back to the shop for a new adventure go racing again. But we had a great end to the season with the annual Birkett Relay. It's an event for 68 teams of 4 to 6 drivers, to see who can amass the most laps in six hours. We had a team of four this year to minimise the driver changes, which worked well but made for a fairly relentless day. There is both a scratch result and a handicap result, so that there is something for everyone to fight for (even the traditional Smart Car team). On handicap we came in the precise middle - 34th place! Conditions varied between "bad" and "atrocious", with rain for most of the day and slippery damp conditions for the rest. Here's the view from a BMW who was blessed with the same semi-slick tyres that we use: Despite that, driving standards were very good with not much going wrong. We managed to trigger a half-hour safety car when one of our drivers (usually a very stable chap) aquaplaned off at Copse straight into the gravel and was followed by a few others. Fortunately no contact and he & the car were fine. There was plenty of spinning, obviously. One slightly iffy moment for me but I managed not to T-bone him: Just a little tap to his rear wing - you can't see it in the video. No significant damage for me, although for a moment I thought it was game over. So now I have a few months in the garage getting her pretty for the new season...

JonC
Radicals + monsoon = frequent dizzy spells and loss of all sense of orientation. One doesn't usually require a monsoon to achieve those sensations....

garcon magnifique
Eleven, I think, including maybe five from your incar. With due apologies to the owner driver, the footage of the cockpit being loaded with four wheel arches and varied other detritus (including a front spring?! ) had me in stitches...! The premier for the film is traditionally at the end of season dinner, which was last Saturday. The room was in stitches by the time he threw the spring in He has a good sense of humour, though.

garcon magnifique
A couple were little more than red flashes passing the camera in the wrong direction. Couldn't be sure it was you, but on the basis of precedent...?
