Yeah- tell me about it the missus is doing her nut yelrotflmao.gif

I'm not tackling the clutch myself though, I havnt got a 4 post lift to work off. I havefound a guy local to me though whos a VAG specialist whos only going to charge me £25 / hour to do the job though.

Hopefully when its done I'll have sorted the car out though and I'll be happy with it.

Dude, tell me about it smashfreakB.gif I went almost 3 years without doing much to my A3, but it seems chipping "Broke the Seal" and now I'm constantly trying to figure out what to do next FIREdevil.gif Although it's been mainly planning and wishful thinking until recently smashfreakB.gif

That sucks, Oettinger are clearly not that flexible. AmD will just charge labour to map the car differently IIRC.

I'll have to think of something else for you that costs less.

How about larger down pipe and metal cat from the States? Thing is, to get the best from this would require a code tweak as gasses will be flowing quicker. Could be worth a think though.

I know that feeling. If I bought all the mods I have planned in one hit, I'd need to re-motgage my house. NONO3.GIF

As a comparison. I bought a Astra GTE 16V when I was 19 for £4800 and then lost count when I reached £14k on modding it.

I've been renovating the house over the past few years so the cars and modyfying had to be put on hold for a while. Luckily the house is done now. So its chocks away for a while.

Thats until the patter of tiny feet start anyway. Flush.gif

Hopefully though I'll have the S3 where I want it by then. sekret.gif

Well, lately I've even considered just re-selling the S3 exhaust I have, on ebay, and just purchasing a SuperSprint cat-back system that just bolts-on smashfreakB.gif I didn't expect it to be THIS hard to find someone who could do custom exhaust work smashfreakB.gif And the Netherlands in a bit far to drive for an exhaust I'm afraid suicide.gif

A Supersprint cat-back would cost about €500 and I'd be able to install it myself (without any other mods), versus the €125 I paid for the S3 exhaust and then there's modifying it to fit, then trimming the std heat shield and THEN trimming the rear valance which I think would run the price up to around the €500 for the Supersprint smashfreakB.gif

What do y'all think?

Drill, I suppose it depends on whether your happy with the way the exhaust is situated at the moment, coming out from under neath the bumper if you know what I mean.

Personally I like the way the S3 exhaust sits into the apeture of the bumper, whether it be factory on the S3 or a mod as on the A3. However if I had an A3 I dont think I'd be keen on hacking away at my rear bumper and on the few homemade jobs I've seen they end up looking a bit SPericani2.gif .

So that leaves you with the option of getting a body shop to do it and platic welding the lip, which is gonna cost you at least a couple of hundred euros.

If it were me I'd probably go for the S3 exhaust and body shop tackling the bumper, but then my mate runs a body shop so I'd get the bumper done cheap.

Paul (r88per),

My current tips are the "Hidden" type, and I really don't like the kind that peek out from underneath the rear skirt smashfreakB.gif That's one of the beautiful things about the Supersprint setup, the end pipes are a seperate part from the muffler, so I can get the A3 exhaust but order the S3 "Straight-through" end-pipes grin.gif Then all I'll need is for a body shop to make the cutout. And that would be ALL for labor grin.gif Whereas, using the S3 exhaust could wind up costing quite a bit in labor. Hell, just welding a reducer pipe on would prolly cost as much as having the cut-out done smashfreakB.gif

Yeah, B&B and also Oettinger have some nice exhausts grin.gif

Oh, and an update on the Supersprint..... maybe I WON'T be going for it crazy.gif I just dug out my Feb. 2003 price list, and get this, mid-pipe: €248 Muffler: €430 (ooo.gif) and the S3 endpipes: €188 smashfreakB.gif Now I know I'm no good at math, but to me that looks like €866 suicide.gifUHOH7.GIF

Ben, do you HONESTLY think I hadn't REALLY wished my Intake Manifold went the other way

[/ QUOTE ] Hey, that is an issue but why not get the TT/S3 setup?

Seriously though, why not get a used K04? Can't be much more than a couple of hundred. Then take another trip to Oettinger and pay them labour only to map the car for the turbo. If you can fit the turbo yourself then you're laughing.

Hope all is cool matey grin.gif

Been thinking on this, and I figure Oettinger won't "Tweak" my current map to suit a K04 cause it cuts into their own profits (As they offer their OWN K04 kit) BUT, since their exhaust prices seem OK, if I decide to get the Oettinger exhaust (Maybe WITH Downpipe, depending on cost) then maybe I can convince them to take a logging run afterwards and "Tweak" my map to suit the new exhaust, thereby getting the max. out of all mods grin.gif Then of course, I'd try and get them to dyno it, just to be sure wink.gif

That seems fair enough to me - they shouldn't be turning away business after all. I'd just mention that you're looking for a K04 upgrade in the future and you'll be looking to use them.

Let us know what they say Drillbob.

Cheers

Ben
