Fair point Bob.

but, tbh I dont care what Lod thinks - and im sure he doesnt care what I think.

I like R32s - he doesn't.

I support Man U - he supports Liverpool.

We both like cats.

It really doesn't matter.

pengy.gif

Some people like 4x4s, jet skis, rock music and I hate them all.

I love seafood and my wife hates it.

Have your opinion and stick to it.

You dont need to defend it if someone else disagrees with you.

Thats what makes the world go round.

....sorry going on a bit there! grin.gif

Bob_c, you need to read the whole thread, pay particular attention to what Fatcat says, he has an R32, all we are saying is that R32 owners do not take critisism too well, it seems to be personal, if someone wants to slag my car off, go right ahead, if you have driven it, all the better. I would not feel the need to defend it as if it had been an assault on one of my family, for me, it is a car, end of!

There is an element of schadenfreude on the R32 forum, and this is picked up by others, not just me.

Bob, I don't 'visit' this forum because of a car I like or dislike, I like cars full stop, this is why I believe I can be objective, as you will see, I have been on here a while, long before any R32 forums on here. I don't come on here to spend most of my time in one forum, and I think there are many on here who I have a good banter with and they accept the tone of my comments, in all my time here, it is only R32 owners who have taken exception, I do not rate their cars anymore than say, an A4 cab, or a TVR, yet I don't have this issue with their owners, and what's more, I'm sure many 'regulars' would back me up on this, so maybe there is something in the fact that many R32 owners are relatively new to the forum and have not quite grasped what TS, and the people who have long frequented it is about - friendly, objective discussion, not deliberatley inflammatory. This is not Scoobynet!

Just because I don't rate your car, why is this a problem, it shouldn't be, you don't like mine, great, I can move on, I don't feel the need for a caustic retort.

I will not be commneting on this anymore as I am NOW Leaving for France for two weeks.

I do hope people can understand what I've said, because Bob_C has just shown, some people still do not quite get it.

Oh, and Soulboy beerchug.gif (except the Man U bit smashfreakB.gif)

See you all in 2 weeks!

Loddrik, thanks very much for that response - it was exactly what I was trying to provoke so that I can prove my point! Here is how it goes....

When you criticise someone or something that is considered to be of relative importance to someone, their natural reaction is to defend it! So all I did was write a little paragraph above with only a slight criticsm which I didn't feel was too harsh, and you have written a paragraph twice or may three times the size defending yourself. smirk.gif

Now, people on this website really love their cars and like you have shown above, handle any sort of critiscm with defence. So in actual fact, you have just answered your own question when you ask why 'we' dont like people slagging off our cars. smashfreakB.gif

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you if I did, I just wanted to prove a point. Have a good time in France and for the record, I know what TS is about, I read it more than enough and have virtually read every thread from the beginning for this section anyway... all I can say to that is it has slightly detiorated over the last few months and many of the old skool contributors have vanished? confused.gif

Cheers. beerchug.gif

Oh and also, I don't care what people think about what I drive!

P.S. Lodders, my 22B was dynoed at 407bhp and recorded 0-60 in 3.9 secs and 0-100 in 10.1 secs so it was a quick car.... I haven't heard or seen a road going P1 that could beat that... sorry had to get that one in! the_finger.gif

Agree with you Bob some of the posts and replys have just been dung.gif stirring of late.

But i have also noticed many of the newer users, and some of the regulars are just posting nonsense , ie APR/AMD Chips , how many doors unlock? , Neuspeed Race Series Induction Kit , Speed.. ahem.. SAFETY camera detectors? ,R32 Audio all these topics are from the first 4 pages and all of these have been spoken about at least twice before. People look back and bring old threads to life, but stop re-posting it makes for dull reading

Its all getting a bit heated in here people slagging back and forth, everyone has a right to their own opinion but the way in which you put it across is all important.

Lets see if it can get back to normal get the good informative posts going again and get the good feelings back

It cant be that there is nothing left to talk about with the R32. I love comparing the R32 to other cars. I bought it because it was a stealth machine that could piss of the fasties. I have really enjoyed my time with it so far. Even the S3 argument. I still think they are 2 slightly differant cars. Where the S3 is more luxurious the R32 is faster (not that there is much in it), and better round the corners. Now the 330, in regard to straight line speed, i cant see what that is all about. It is slightly less powerful than the S3 and R32, but is a totally differant drive. When i drove it, it felt slower, literally becasue you really had to rev it to get the required torque. Now it is still a fast rear drive car, with all the luxuaries you could want, so it give a slightly differant selling point to the other cars. But it is not as fast, i played with one today, and got bored. Now i could see it as being a more entertainign drive. Espeshally with the traction control off on a wet day, but to me i would not have considered it properly. The only 3 series i really want is the M tech.

Ramble rambel rambel, by this time i have had almost 2 litres of Sangria, and have vanished in to my mates computer room. In fact i can hear them calling me, so i have got to go. I just wanted to say, that comparing cars are fine. The R32 is faster, better handled (except possibly as very fast speeds), where as the S3 is somewhere in between, dosent feel as quick, but near enough is, the 330, is not quite as quick, yet has rear wheel drive, and a a higher caliber of quality.

Right to be honest at this point i cant really remember what i was talking about, but i had fun trying to type and think about cars while being quite pissed. I hope you forgive my ramblings, and probably a lot of spelling mistkaes, and when i look at this in the morning i probably wont have a feckin clue what i have been talking about.

Never mind, we are all mates here, and the R32 boys are great (no matter what the minority think). Keep up the banter, car comparing, just loose the carppy critisisum.

Lots of love, Sam, the wobbly woppum!! beerchug.gif

Cheers Craig... I thought I was the only one who felt like this!

Guys I agree with him on this, if you look back and read some of the threads, the chat is really informative and more to the point addictive. There were times when I would spend the day at work just sitting on this site. Now, I visit it may once or twice!

Let's make it how it used to be! 169144-ok.gif

Yes, a standard one maybe, but can P1's not be modded too, mine was!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes they can be modded but usually go POP after about 2 miles. A bit like an M3 engine really smile.gif.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sold mine before it went POP! Thank god! My situation was really bad - I bought a 22B which was limited to 400 odd cars - the clever guys at Subaru made another 400 cars in parts only. Therefore, 6 years later, all the common parts have been used by people crashing, repairing their cars and so I knew I was in dung.gif if I ever needed anything. I went to my local specialist and he told me that if I crashed the car, the insurance company would probably right off the car there and then. SAUER0421.GIF

So I sold it to a little rich boy racer! sekret.gif

Now I have promised not to buy a car that requires specialist parts!

A common opinion for a forum after 6 months or so. Unsurprisingly perhaps, I disagree.

When a forum topic is new, it prompts lots of new posts. Not many people know a lot and the forum is busy as people rapidly share information. It's all good stuff and people enjoy the learning process.

Then, after a while the focus turns to modifying the cars. Members have done all the stock stuff and want to talk about making changes.

Then, after a while most of that chat is exhausted and the signal to noise ratio decreases. The banter increases.

Then some new member who wasn't there in phase one or two comes along. He doesn't know a lot, it's a steep learning curve and the search facility doesn't work.

He posts a thread or two about servicing, oil, tyres, audio or whatever and gets shot down in flames for repeating a previous topic.

Well, I'm sorry if you've already been there lots of times, but this guy hasn't so he's simply asking. He wants to know the answers to his questions, just like you did when you didn't know them. Why shouldn't he?

If people who know the answers aren't prepared to divulge them then what's the point in having the forum in the first place?

Just my 2p.

Fair point but to be honest, alot of the information that I have learnt has been from going back and reading threads from the past.

I do agree with what you have mentioned above and I know that's the life cycle of a forum... but the problem with this is the old school get bored and leave! Sad but true.

I'm a newbie and i have to say i read almost all the previous 100+ pages of threads on this forum before i posted stuff...but i can understand that some can't be arsed and let's face it it's so much easier to write a thread and get a specific response to your question than searching through pages and pages of stuff!

Anyway, the same sort of thing happens on other forums, i still visit S2KI.COM and to be honest i can't make head or tail of some of the posts that go on but it still makes for fairly interesting reading...still long for the good old days tho.. wink.gif
