Mollox
Treat it with care and don't stain it is all i can say - haven't had to clean mine in over a year and a half of having it (sorry, I know that wasn't helpful)
S3Bangs
Chris, Banana flavoured soap, mild warm water, clean cotton cloth, wipe and clean...pretty easy.. Alcantara is a doodle to clean as I found out on my A3. Just dont let it get too wet and you should be fine
Roy
Just got mine with Alcantara, do you really use soap on it? It feels a bit like suede so I thought it'd go a bit iffy it wet...
S3Robin
Guys, I also have Alcantara and initially had the same concerns about cleaning etc. I had a small mark appear on one of the seats and it came out very easily just using a wet cloth and a drop of washing-up liquid. Soap and water is the cleaning method recommended by the manufacturer. See the Alcantara web site at Alcantara - Automotive Section . To save you all the trouble I have also included an extract below from the Alcatara 'maintenance' section. It applies to all uses of their product (I don't think they expect us to remove the seats and try to get them in the washing machine ) "Washing Instructions - Extensive soiling or spots may require the entire cover to be washed. - Removable covers: Removable Alcantara® covers are very easy to clean, and can be safely washed with water in the washing machine set at 30º. To maintain the original freshness of the fabric, brush it with a soft brush once it has been washed. If the upholstery is fitted with Velcro, cover each piece with a Velcro cover. - Non-removable covers: Non-removable Alcantara® covers can be cleaned with soap and water. Avoid using solvents (particularly perchloroethyene and trichlorethylene) and contact with steam cleaners. The use of "spray extraction" upholstery cleaners is acceptable at low temperatures." Cheers, R
Roy
Cheers S3Robin I wonder what they mean by extensive "soiling"
S3Robin
Roy, Any full-blooded S3 driver who has transported a nervous passenger may from time to time experience "extensive soiling" of the passenger seat Also required ocassionally for the drivers seat if you need to stand on the brakes to avoid a slow driver ahead or experience a big slide on a narrow road. ...Lucky Alcantara foresaw this in their material development. I was browsing Bushy's Extreme Car Care web site at the weekend to see if Meguiars have come up with a product to remove fingernail and teeth marks from the dashboard ! ....ever wondered why Audi chose a stippled dashboard finish ? s8n
I brought my MY03 S3 in Imola Yellow with Yellow Alcantara and absoultely LOVE IT Its so wild and the girls just drool When I brought the car there were some mild marks, I took it to a detailer who used as the Alcantara website recommends a mixture of spot cleaning and also use a spray extraction machine with a leather cleaner and conditioner on the front seats, the results were fantastic and all for about 10pounds ($30AUD) The color didnt fade and they just look magic! Ill post some pictures when I get my digital camera back tonight... Get Alcantara, its wild, comfortable, and very durable!
Roy
Having been using mine for about3 months now, the drivers seat is getting a vaguely "shiny" look to it where my sweet ass has been sitting Is there a simple way to bring it back? Soap and water?
Drillslinger
Just brush it every now and then, like you would with suede
