gizze
[ QUOTE ] To me sound is an important part of the home cinema experience and all projectors have a fan which spoils the quiet parts of movies for me. My plasma has done good service considering it's original £4,200 cost 2.5 years ago and not noticed any fading nor had to spend £1,500 in bulbs which you have ad to over the same period. With plasma screens now half the price, you could buy a plasma for the price of 3.5 years bulbs alone! [/ QUOTE ] Apparently Richer Sounds will be doing one of the big brand Palsma 42" screens in December for £999, don't know what screen and it could be pants, but it just shows how the prices are dropping
Pincher
That would probably be the Daewoo one they sell. it was £1500 two weeks ago. Went in yesterday and it had dropped to £1300. However they do describe it as one of the more 'basic' models. They also have a 32" graded Hitachi for £999 at the moment linky
Chav
it depends on the orig recording resolution as to whether 1080 lines will look sharper than 480 lines. personally i think the cheaper 1.3megapixel projectors sometimes look better than the 3.1megapixel ones because their res is nearer the native dvd res. plasmas lifespan is about 30000 hours, so if you dont watch it a lot you wont see the decay for a good while :-) the crt picture looks as i expected...low brightness, but sharp. i did say it was personal preference. [/ QUOTE ] I totally agree with what you say there, I went down to buy my plasma thinking I would get the pioneer HD panel, but ended up get the Panny Pw6 (480 lines of resolution) as I will be watching ntsc dvd and sky 90% of the time, and this looked far better than the higher resolution panel doing its own scaling and making the image very soft, oh and the fact that the pioneer can't resolve any detail in the black areas at all.
