delibird
My boyf worries about everything, to the extent of making himself ill. I'm going to say to you what I say to him, not that he takes any notice,.........nothing is ever that bad that you should worry that much over it. Relax, take a step back and you'll probably find a solution

Mollox
Think about things we've all worried about in the past. Things to do with school, will I ever get my driving license? Will I ever find the right person? Will I make that flight on time? Will I ever find the right job? You know the unifying thing about them? 99% of them get resolved. And then you never worry about them again. In fact, they start to seem funny in hindsight. Thats the thing about worries; they tend to come to a natural conclusion. Its up to you to either stop worrying about these things or draw them to an early conclusion. Most of the time with worry, you're in control of your destiny. Often people worry through temporary insecurity or such reasons. Force the situation, take control and get on with enjoying stuff that requires your positive attention

Soulboy
I think you worry less as you get older - I do - and you realise that most stuff isnt worth worrying about. If you do have a worry - then do something about it! Face up to it, think of the worst outcome, and tackle it head on!! Its like if you have a medical worry, you feel better as soon as you have made the appointment with the doc - even if the eventual diagnosis is not good. STOP WORRYING AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. thats my advice
Soulboy
..and another thing (sorry) - the word worry derives from a viking word meaning 'to strangle ones self'

cruiser647
[ QUOTE ] Nah! bollox to it - nowt you can do about it [/ QUOTE ] Exactly! The art of not worrying or stressing is :- Is there anything YOU can do about the situation? If no (most situations) then don't worry about it - there is nothing you can do. If yes - then do something (5% of the time). Most of the time it is down to someone else, that is out of your control. Worrying gets you nowhere. Chill out!!! You could always try a little I have not (can't see the point)

It protects from dangers to some extent , but it becomes a problem when there is too much of it. Folks use coping mechanisms for dealing with worrying thoughts like "What is the worst that can happen" and "Will worrying change anything?" which try to put things into perspective. Sometimes worry goes with depression as worry is very unpleasant and can actually make a person depressed after a while as it is so unpleasant. It is important to bear in mind that worry and anxiety are very common but unpleasant and that help is at hand - have you considered a visit to your GP? BURTON
My mate worries about stuff... Its really bad and getting worse.. This is what he does.. Checks that his car is locked - ok you say.. yeah but he checks it in making sure its locked by pulling the handles a total of 11 times! Has to land on a odd number. Checks and goes back round a road to makesure he has not ran anyone over!! Has to check the bottom of something that he has picked up. Has to rip appart a cig packet to makesure nothing is in it. Has to check the house 3 times to makesure he has not forgotten anything.. etc...
