Decked
Anyone know what this is supposed to mean, "Alternator Workshop" It came up on the dash a few weeks ago and went off, then again the other day. Anyone had this before? I've had a look on the net and cant find anything, tempted on calling the garage, but it's going in for a range of jobs next week. Any ideas would be appreciated. s4dreamer
It's happened to several of us in the past and generally it appears to happen when the car is starting to stall.
Decked
It's only ever happened as i've floored it out of my drive, slight wheel spin on the gravel then 10-15 seconds later when i'm up to about 60, thats when it comes up with the fault. Mook
Get your main dealer or independent specialist to check it out - they can find out by plugging into the diagnostics system (main dealer) or VAG COM (independent). The ECU logs all errors, so they'll quickly be able to find out what the problem is for you. HTH
Daemon
*Usually* this message comes up when you bog the engine when launching and the revs drop well below idle speed and then recover. The alternator is unable to maintain full charging voltage so the ECU complains. Goes away immediately. If it happens anywhere above idle speed, then it may be a legitimate problem. ian
