Daz
Does anyone know of any decent "Country House" type hotels within a couple of hours drive from London? Looking for somewhere to spend a nice relaxing weekend.

JamesB
Depends on what you mean by "country house" and your budget. Stoke Park is very nice but stupidly expensive. You won't go far wrong if you pop into Waterstone's and peak at an Alastair Sawday guide. (I also swear by the Good Pub Guide - some of the nicer pubs (try the Horseguards at Tillington or the Wykeham Arms in Winchester) are better than most hotels and significantly better value for money.)
