Mook
So is it carrying on the theme of the DNA - people getting caught in the web of the Audi DNA? Sh*t this sounds far to much like ad agency speak...
Simonl
very hot now Apparently it's extracting Vorsprung durch technik (if that's how you spell it) from all the other cars. Are there older audis in the web, haven't noticed myself.
s4_sat
The RS4 is the Black Widow spider, the other cars are potential rivals who have been caught and drined by the RS4. They are using the fact that the black widow kills its partners after the eggs have been laid. Once one comes into view, it is used as a toy for a while then becomes another victim of the RS4. Or something like that.

[/ QUOTE ] Yup - check Google Video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5076884840181026770&q=audi+rs4+commercial - there's definitely an old Ur-Quattro in there with the engine hanging out. Si_GTi
- The Golf GTI advert with the remix of "singing in the rain" and a "fake" breakdancing Gene Kelly... - The Honda "Impossible Dream" ad with Andy Williams and the whole company history theme... - And there's a VW ad for DSG with two kids sat on the doorstep playing cars (pretending they're driving, making the engine noises). Got it on my phone, most amusing - and I suppose technically not an advert in the truest sense but that featurette thing with Audi where they drove an... A6? ... up a mahoosive ski ramp! mmj
I wouldn't like to choose just one... But I love most of the ones mentioned: Cogs, reliable as a VW, Spider, Char Pei, The one with the slug as well! Singing in the rain, Golf GTI timewarp, Citreon boogie, and Citreon walkies. If only advertisement agencies made television programmes... And I like this One (edited to correct linky)

Ari
I used to love Audi's BMW/Mercedes stereotype driver piss takes. They had the city yuppie who test driving an A4 and was so full of himself talking about himself the whole time complete with snapshots of his life (it's the people you're seen with, the places you're seen, the clothes you wear), but everyone was sniggering in the background. Then at the end he gets out the car, tosses the salesman the keys and says, "Nah, it's not my sort of car. TAXI! " as he strides off. So obviously anti BMW drivers. And the golf club bore going on about golf ("it's all in the buttocks you know") and the members, and of course, the right badge on the car in the car park (which was obviously Mercedes although it was never mentioned). Absolutely superb antihero ads. And some of the action ones as well, the S6 quattro driving through the surf towing a wakeboarder! Brilliant!! But Audi have been doing this stuff masterfully for years. One of the earliest advert memories I have is for the original Ur Quattro. Picture then the scene. It's early '80s (A time when car phones were the stuff of luxury limos and yuppies were yet to be invented), the Ur Quattro is taking the rally world by storm, and Audi were re inventing themselves as a high quality real world performance car. The ad opens with a serene shot of a glider swooping gracefully through the air high above the hills, just the gentle sound of the wind. Cut to a shot of an immaculate totally standard blood red Ur Quattro on a mountain dirt track, engine hammering, executing perfect four wheel power slides around the hairpins. Back to the glider, lower now, sweeping round the tops of the mountains. Back to the Quattro, gorgeous original shape coupe, all blistered arches, dark glass and matt back spoiler, halfway up the hill now and clearly on a serious charge, thick dust trail rising into the air behind it. It becomes apparent to the viewer that the Quattro driver is in pursuit of the glider, we don't know why think James Bond chase connotations. Next shot, the gliders landed, handsome thirtysomething James Bond type pops the canopy as the Quattro crests the hill and is headed straight for it. JB looks across at the fast approaching car. Final shot, the Quattro is almost upon the glider, executes a neat handbrake turn, darkened electric window starts to lower. Viewer wonders if it's evil henchman of enemy with machinegun intent on rubbing out hunky Gliderman. Window lowers to reveal stunning thirtysomething immaculately dressed and coiffured lady (Cabgirl style! ) She speaks, lifting a phone handset to the window as she does so. Roger, your mother's on the phone. Advert fades to quattro logo. Just fabulous, I'd so love to be able to find a copy of that.

ChadW
Flippin'ell Ari a distant memory has been stirred in my head! What a cool ad that was! All Ads by Audi are cool, looking back I really liked the idea behind the one for the new A3 in 2003, chucking chav max power stuff onto a bonfire, then a new A3 driving away with the tag; new attitude..... Also liked the older 306 ads, you know the one with that sexy lady (turning into his wife later on) saying 'nice car' and the other ad of a lady watching her husband cleaning his 306 with 'can't take my eyes off you' playing on the radio. Cool.
NewNiceMrMe
I still think the BMW Reflex advertisement was superb. It took me 2 weeks to figure out what the hell was going on! It was the ad in which the guy was having his reflexes tested with the tiny hammer in the doctors - and the leg didn't budge. However, the camera cut outside and the 3-series gave a little reflex on the suspension every time he tapped the hammer. No straplines, no words, nothing. Genius. My favourite advertisement remains the VW Golf advert with the foam padding around the lampost where the car was parked though.....

Simonl
What about the ad of close ups done by Honda for the Civic... "isn't it great when things just work". Or the Volvo ads of the 90's, Twister and Stunt man, or "cages save lives" with the Great white!
