shark_90
Ok, I've decided to take the plunge and buy a Milltek for the A4. But I can't decide on whether to have 90mm or 100mm tips. I've been told that 100mm fill the holes just nicely, but I'm bothered that it might look a little overstated. It is of course only a 1.8T. Does anyone have any pictures or either/both. Does the rear valance from the S-line kit have the same size exhaust exit areas as the S4, as I've seen a few S4's with 100mm. a4alan
Go for the 90 mm, 100`s are just a bit to much i think, i`ve just gone for a set of 90 tips (still to fit), until i can collect cash for a system, and i held a set of 100`s on and they are just to much in my eyes. A4 s-line avant..
Daz
Have you heard a 1.8T with Millteks? I know on the S3 it never made that much difference to the sound. Hence why most S3 owners never bothered with it. If you are just buying it for looks then I'd say the 90mm tips would be more than sufficent. shark_90
I haven't heard one, no. But it's not really for the sound to be honest, partially cosmetics, partially because I've seen the state of the (5 year old) standard exhaust after having the car on the ramps, and partially because the car feels strangled. Obviously the tips won't change that at all. Also I do mileage as you know so I don't want a drone in the background, so I'm happy that it's not that loud. Durrsaku
You and your zorst problems. If you are going for the looks then go for the 100 mm. My opinion.
bearra
CabLad used to have a Milltek on his 1.8T cab may be worth seeing if you can PM or mail him
P_G
90mm may be better as I seem to remember the S-line having smaller exhaust cut outs than the S4 valance.
kenny_boon
on the a6 (b6) do you get a resonated and unresonated option?

I guess if I think they look OTT I might be able to ask Milltek nicely if I could swap them for some 90's.............. But I reckon they'll look just splendid old chap!! Daz, good to hear (get it? ) that the Milltek system's aren't too loud on the 1.8T's. I wasn't looking for noise, just a bit more character, looks and a good base for future upgrades. With a bit of luck the full system with downpipe should give a little more midrange torque and sharpen throttle response. Here's a 100mm tip................. I'll post up a 'how to' if you chaps would like and of course give a full report on looks, sound and performance gain (if any). BUB
18ME
I'd personally go for 90mm as I think the 100mm may look a little too big on the 1.8T, although I'll wait for judgement until Bub takes some pics of his BTW Bub did you buy it direct from Milltek and have you got cats too? oh and how much? as I've just bought a 1.8t avant
Avus_Bub
Well, 18ME my car hasn't got a 1.8t badge so who cares....? I think it'll look fine - I'm fitting it on Saturday morning, so I'll get the pic's up then No Cat' - I couldn't really justify another £500. I will probably go for one when funds allow though. I saw a pic of the 90's and they didn't look much bigger that the standard ones..... I know it's only another 10mm but it seems to make all the difference I'll send some pic's to Milltek too as they haven't got any on their site. shark_90
Well I've just been and measured.. the valance is 120mm across, the standard tips are 70mm. Still can't decide Lets have pics as soon as you're done Bub

Yes I ordered it from Jim and it was sent direct from Milltek. Star are doing 10% off and free fitting this month - I passed on the free fitting this time though! Star Shark, I'll get the pic's up soon as!! BUB
Biscuits
100mm looks nice, bigger than stock, but not 'McDonnalds Saxo'
P_G
100mm tips [image][/image] 75mm tips [image][/image] I woud imagine 90mm would look OK on a 1.8T, hard choice though.
shark_90
P_G are you sure the second tips are 75? Cos they look bigger than mine, and mine are 70mm? Infact they look a lot bigger. Are we measuring the inside or outside of the tips?
P_G
Yep, they were 75mm measuring the rim diameter of this tips. But still left some spece as can be seen and were straight pipe as opposed to my new 100mm slanted tips.
a4alan
Mine too are 70mm standard on a4 sline avant, i think the s4`s will be bigger as standard compared to ours

Avus_Bub
The only problem with ovals is the valance has half round cut outs and they just wouldn't look right. BUB
