Z(3) M Coupe

By about 10am tmrw my avatar should be accurate again......

Just couldn't resist getting another ZM Coupe (old school breadvan version!) - picking it up tmrw morning.

Newer version than my last one so has the later E46 M3 Engine (and DSC) which will be interesting to compare. The testdrive I had confirmed that it feels slightly less 'raw' than my last Coupe, but at least as quick!

It's been a long 18 months without real power and boy am I looking forward to it again...... grin.gif

Cheers guys! All good yesterday although realised about 5 miles from the dealership that the miserable sods hadn't filled up the tank as promised (being Scottish I called them and will get them to fill it up when I'm next passing wink.gif).

My God.......I'd completely forgotten just how quick this car is (at least in a straight line). I guess your sense of what is fast gets dulled by driving slower cars and you begin to convince yourself that whatever you've been driving is relatively quick....bear in mind I've spent the last 18 months in an S3 and then a 2.0Tdi S-line Audi A4 (both great cars for what I needed them for but not 'fast cars').

Having just spent some decent time behind the wheel of Lagoo and Bazza's Boxster S' on the way to and from Le Mans it's interesting to jump back into a Coupe and compare.

The Coupe certainly feels faster in a straight line but the Boxsters feel soooo much more planted and you know that you can really push on through the twisties without having too many 'touching cloth' moments! The Coupe, on the other hand, really reminds me that it's a fairly crude car and it's going to be interesting learning the limits of this car to a greater degree than I did the last one!

It also feels a bit claustrophibic after being 'topless' for much of the summer in my GF's Mini Convertible and the Boxsters but I still love the old school interior of the Coupe.

They actually had a pre-production Z4M Coupe in the showroom which I had a sit in

but, whilst it does feel more 'grown up' and modern and is undoubtedly the better all round car, I was really disappointed with it visually - largely due to the uninspiring wheels that BMW have decided to put on the M Coupe & Roadster NONO3.GIF

Ah yes, colour - I've been extremely dull and have almost exactly the same spec as my last one - Titanium Silver with full black leather interior. I hate the 2 tone leather that many of these cars have! It does have the Harmon Kardon system though which is miles better than the standard setup that I had on the last one. It'll be interesting to see how well the DSC actually works.........reading back through old issues of EVO when they had their S54 long termer they mention how the DSC isn't so keen to intervene at higher speeds....hmmnnn.

Right, I'm waffling now! I'm off to take it for a proper drive as I didn't really have a chance yesterday 169144-ok.gif

Pics to follow shortly although you could just look at my last one in the gallery tongue.gif

I recognise your CSL though, but can't think where from?

You had it advertised recently on bm3w or pistonheads maybe?

Anyway, nice to see another BMW user on here, and congratulations on the World Cup mate, at least it waas not the boring catenaccio system that won you it, you actually played some nice football! grin.giftongue.gif

With Photos you cn go to the gallery...

http://www.tyresmoke.net/gallery/

Then go to the section you want, ie BMW-M3-etc. and find an empty folder on the last page. You then choose to upload the images to that folder. Then if you want to link to the images you copy the image address and put it between

[.IMG] and [./IMG] (but with out the full stop before the IMG and /IMG) and it will appear in the post.

You can also add an attachment to your post, then click on the attachment and copy the image address, then edit your posy and put the IMG back in it after wards.
