PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Just wondering whether this is true or should I hold on for a free upgrade? Anyone know of any dealers close to Portsmouth (not Portsmouth Audi!) that will do the upgrade on warranty? [/ QUOTE ] It's not us that are saying it's free - it's a memo on Dialogue sent to ALL Audi UK dealers that says it's free! I'm not impressed with Portsmouth Audi either, try Southampton Audi (actually at Chandlers Ford).
timw
I took that info with me and he said they were sent much more info (6 pages worth) but said the 1st paragraph was the same with the word "subsidised" in it. He has taken a photocopy of that info and said he will call on Monday with what the cost will be. Car is book in for Tuesday Tim.
timw
Well, Portsmouth Audi have just phoned me back to confirm that the upgrade will be free Hope they get the disk in for Tuesday... Thanks for your replies guys! Tim.
Cupramax
I've had problems with Poole Audi re this today, they said it would be chargeable, I told them to check their bulletins again and that I wasn't paying. We shall see where this goes...
J_C
Just to add to this - earlier I booked my S4 into Swindon Audi for Monday (22nd) to have a minor problem rectified under warranty, and they too have confirmed that the TMC upgrade can be carried out FOC while it's there. At first the service lady was adamant that this only applied to A6s and A8s, but after I queried this with her she checked and called back later to confirm that I was correct. So far so good! Now to print off some 'please do not wash this car' signs.

Vertigo1
Well what a palaver! Just popped into my local dealer and they denied any knowledge of it whatsoever, despite saying last year that they did! The guy asked a couple of other people who didn't know either, then the warranty manager who also hadn't a clue! Finally they spoke to some other manager who said he did know about it (hooray!) but that it wouldn't be available until end of February (arg!). Got totally pissed off at this point so popped up to Sutton Coldfield to see if I could get any more joy. I called Tom Peterkin on the way over and chatted with him about it for 10 mins or so (god I love my GSM prep) and he confirmed all the details we now know and that if they denied all knowledge to give them his name and number and tell them to call him. He also confirmed that the message went out to the dealers on the "Desktop" system on 18th December and to tell them this. Got to Sutton and the lady there didn't know anything about it (uhoh!) but sounded intrigued and was eager to help. I told her about the message going out on the 18th Dec and she said she'd have a look. Came back a couple of minutes later and read through it in front of me then said "yep, no problem, if you bring in your 2006 disc in its case then we'll just do a straight swap". Result! Unfortunately they didn't have any of the 2007 discs in stock (what a surprise) but reckoned she could get it in for Tuesday and would give me a call when it arrived. We shall see whether it arrives or not...

Like you say when I spoke to various departments that knew naff all they then mentioned that they would get back to me, hey presto not heard anything back. When I went in the other day made a point of mentioning it again and lots of embarressed replies of "I knew there was something I was meant to be doing" followed by we still cant give you a definite answer! I just give up!! What else dont they know at Poole? I've kicked arse on the phone with the service manager already, I've been promised a response next week. Vertigo1
It's not my week Discovered that Stratford Audi had a few of the 2007 discs in stock so took a drive down there. The service guy was very helpful, dug out the relevant details from Audi and confirmed it was a straight swap. Filled in all the paperwork, signed a few things and he went and fetched a nice shrinkwrapped DVD case and told me to go and swap the discs over and bring the old disc back - result! Got to the car and discovered that the damn nav disc won't eject! ARGH!!! The button just does nothing at all, resetting the unit and trying again also failed. As I couldn't give him the old disc back he wouldn't let me leave with the new one so he put it to one side and I've booked it in for Friday for them to have more of a look at the problem. I'm concerned that the RNS-E is actually faulty and they'll not be able to do anything on Friday and I'll have to book it in again to get the unit repaired/replaced. Rather peeved atm
gizze
You ever ejected it before?? It may be that they didn't vag com it during pdi, I think Craig said that the cars come with the eject disabled to stop people nicking the discs. Nelson_R32
We've had a Brand new A3 and Brand new RS4 with the same problem. We've worked out that Audi MAY now code the RNSE units so the DVD's cannot be ejected unless disabled via 50-52.
Vertigo1
This does appear to be what's happened, the eject has been disabled by Audi to prevent disc theft during transit and the dealer has failed to recode the unit. Useless! Actually I'm quite relieved that this is the problem rather than an actual fault as, when I go back on Friday, they'll be able to cure it easily enough. PetrolDave
It's easy enough to change this with VAG-COM. The values in adaptation channel 67 of the RNS-E are: 0 = unlocked 1 = eject, even when locked 255 = locked
Daz
Went into Bexley Audi this morning and got my free updated disk. The service guy carried out the upgrade and took away my old 2006 DVD - all sorted within 15 mins FOC. Now we get this

peterb
[ QUOTE ] Now we get this [/ QUOTE ] Perhaps a stupid question, but all the congestion displays on yours are red - mine show up in grey. I do have dynamic navigation enabled, and do get re-routed. I wonder why the difference in display?
terrymcg
PeterB, They are in grey when you have route guidance activated. When this is on it will only display TMC messages that are regarding your route in red, the rest will be grey. Hope this helps, Terry
VTEC_Killer
Just to add my pennys worth My local stealer rang me on Friday saying the disk has arrived - picked it up on Sat and installed it yesterday - everything OK - didn't ask for a PIN. All done FOC - result! Sheraz
