chasdrury
My car was dropped off this morning - I have had the RNSe retrofitted and I got a nice brand new (30 miles on the clock!!) courtesy car, they called about 10 to say its all ready. Pick it up at 6.... Chaz
jimbutler
Do you absolutely HAVE to give then your original DVD? I had bluetooth fitted by CraigyB, and have his copied later version disc in the car. I seem to remember binning the original.
VTEC_Killer
No - I picked the new disc up from the dealer, went on my merry way and did the upgrade at home!
Daz
My dealer took back my old 2006 DVD. Looks like it depends on the dealer.
TDiAvant
I've been asked for my old disk.
Vertigo1
I had to surrender mine too. To anyone who manages to hang on to their old disc, I'd keep hold of it for a few months before "disposing" of it in case they come asking for it. Probably highly unlikely but you never know. jimbutler
I'll have to see what happens. Need my rear seat back fixing anyway - doesn't lock in place, and the feckers forgot to order the parts when it went in for service last year. Will have to call in and see the stealers for a chat. PetrolDave
I've got the original 2004 DVD (genuine original but disc only, no case) - 8P0 919 884 (no letter) - which I could be persuaded to let someone have if they don't have an original and the dealer insists on one. PM me if interested.
J_C
My car was dropped off this morning at Swindon Audi to have a minor fault diagnosed, and I picked it up this evening with the new discs and SW 0550 all nicely installed and working perfectly. They retained the 2006 disc. The 2007 maps are on two DVDs, one each for Western and Eastern Europe. No mention was made of the fact that my RNS-E is a retrofit; in fact they seemed more interested in knowing why I'd asked them not to wash my car! I too have a 2004 disc like PetrolDave's if anyone wants it.
shark_90
Had mine done today too, they took the old DVD (so I stuck the mankyest old scratched 2004 one I could find in it ) All TMC'd up now Not that Tom Peterkin ever contacted me back... Daz
Here's a copy of an email that one of the guys on RS246 has just received from Tom [ QUOTE ] Hi, We will be sending letters to all Audi customers who have RNS-E sat.nav. fitted to their vehicles, week commencing 15/1. If you have not received a letter by the end of January please contact your local Audi centre. The DVD will be FOC and we will ask for your existing disc back. ashleyadam
All TMC'd up now Not that Tom Peterkin ever contacted me back... [/ QUOTE ] I not sure who got a letter from him only heard of 2 people 1 on tyresmoke & the other on RS246. Now I dont mean to be rude but what an idiot, glorified list taker that has done f-all gave peope wrong information, even tried to tell me that we had not got A8 done FOC. Anyway thanks Tom Peterkin for doing nothing and keeping Audi customer service lines free.
Vertigo1
Well I've found him very helpful. He's emailed me quite a few times over the past couple of months, personal ones too rather than mass emails to everyone on the list. When I called him on Saturday morning he returned my call within minutes and we chatted for quite a while about the TMC issue.
ashleyadam
Mate he contacted everyone back regarding TMC with his emails and I am sure if anybody wanted to waste there time they would have called if. Fact is he was creating a list for people requiring TMC upgrade and would then send out a letter advising when available. They have been available in EU since Nov 06 and UK jan 07 some people even earlier - Now wheres your letter? or will that come out after everyone has had there updates done. If he has anything to do with the updates why is his name not on the bulletin.
allroadman
Just a note with regards to the last posting. As a rule bulletins ( technical ones) sent from the Audi network to centres do not normally have a direct contact or the person who is issuing it. Dealers would be expected to contact the factory via the DISS system and they would get a reply via that. As a rule i find most of the factory people generally try and be helpful, Tom being no execption. Theres plenty of discs out in the dealer network, so there is no reason why people can't be having their upgrade done.
Vertigo1
I doubt Tom is personally responsible for orchestrating the upgrade program, he's merely the contact for enquiries regarding it. At no point did he say he'd send me a letter, he said he'd contact me about the upgrade which he did back in December to confirm the details and that it would be free of charge. The letters are supposed to be sent out from Audi UK and I doubt he's responsible for this himself. I've not received my letter yet but as my car is leased, Audi UK may not have my address details on file yet if the leasing company or supplying dealer is dragging their heels. When I spoke to Tom on Saturday he said that it could well take a while for all the letters to go out and it obviously depended on Audi UK having the correct contact details. He also said there was no problem with pre-empting the letter by going direct to a dealer and that, if they denied all knowledge of the upgrade, to give them his contact details and he'd set them straight. Don't see what more he could have done to help really.
paul_tdi
I am getting more confused about this now! Firstly I thought that I was probably pushing my luck as my car is no longer in Audi warranty but it would appear that people are getting them! Stratford audi claim there is no disc available to activate TMC for units produced after week 50 of 2006! Yeovil Audi did not know of such discs for the A4? Poole audi want 210 plus vat! Why is it that 3 main dealers do not know and have provided 3 different stories? I appreciate that I may not be entitled to the DVD BUT what about the people that are and that I am very confident about will never be aware of the upgrade if the dealers themselves do not know? What a waste of what is actually in my opinion for anyone an excellent upgrade for free? I have past on my findings to Audi customer services UK to highlight the differences. If it was not for TSN I am sure that many people would be non the wiser!
Vertigo1
Stratford Audi are actually correct as any vehicle produced after week 50 of last year should already have the 2007 discs, SW 0550 and thus working TMC. Don't see what this has to do with a 2002 car though!?

Get the dealer to look at the message from the desktop system on the 18th December 2006 - if they still don't beleive you ask them to contact Tom Peterkin at Audi UK and he will set them straight. allroadman
As said before, you can get an upgrade. If you get any grief, message me what dealer it is, and i will see what i can do. Putting the frighteners on them normally dose the job.
Malcolm44
I have just been into Aberdeen Audi for a 2nd AVS service. I mentioned the free upgrade and they said no its £100. I have just e-mailed the service lady copies of the notes from Audi on the issue. So if you can pressure them into giving up some disk's them I would be a happy bunny cheers
Vertigo1
They're probably thinking of the A6/A8 MMI upgrade which was £100. I believe this has been extended a little from the original cut-off of 31/12/2006. Tell them it's the RNS-E in the A3 and A4 and to check for the message on the Desktop system from 18/12/2006
Booster
Can anyone provide a copy of the info that Audi sent through to the dealers so we can print it off and wave it in front of them please?
ashleyadam
Booster why dotn you just try another dealer there are loads that are not giving a problem with the upgrade, if your based in London I know of Wimbledon Audi that will do upgrade.
