Nelson_R32
I just gave a TMC disc to a Customer with a 4B Retrofit Unit only yesterday and he hasn't come back to me to say theres a problem yet!
neilp
It's a 2004 with RNS-E, and both the dealer and Audi know that, I even asked them to make sure they werrn't confusing it with the later MMI. I'll see how it goes tomorrow, I'm going to ask them to do it my way first by just inserting the new DVD and then if that doesn't work then they can hook it up. TDiAvant
When I had the S4 in for MY TMC upgrade (Which I had already done) the service manager was adamant that the RNS-E need to be connect to their systems and it was not just the case of putting a disk in. So I asked to watch when the upgrade was done and with 1-2 minutes the TMC light came on, so I thanked the service manager and fecked off. When you go in there tomorrow demand to see them perform the upgrade.
peterb
[ QUOTE ] Had a reply from Tom Peterkin and the end result is that for the older A6 chassis and Allroad (but only a range of chassis numbers) its more than just a new DVD. [/ QUOTE ] I've had the same response from Tom yesterday, regarding my RS6. I've written back to him to point out his error. I know that there are no specific technical issues with RNS-E on the C5 chassis - I'm already using TMC!
Will22
All I did was put the dvd in my RS6 and it took the same as the rest of the cars, about 4 minutes. I was told not to put the second dvd in any of the cars untill I was at a dealer because it may need a pin to work.
neilp
Just back from Swansea Audi and guess what, no charge as the update took 5 mins and the car didn't get anywhere near any equipment to perform a technical update. The service manager was suitably embarrased especially as I asked him to call Tom Peterkin to explain to him...........
PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] I'd like to see the technician trying to do an MMI update on your RNS-E. [/ QUOTE ] One Audi dealer tried to use the MMI discs to upgrade an RNS-E in an A3 in December 2006. A very embarassed Customer Service Manager had to admit to the owner that they didn't know what they were doing!

timtuonos4
just had mine done by lister cov, as mentioned on this forum the upgrade is 2 discs, but they only let me with one which is in the car, they said the other disc is the upgrade prog and no longer needed,is this correct
neilp
Nope, you should have 2 disks, essentially one for eastern europe and one for western europe.
Vertigo1
As Neilp said, the discs are both mapping discs and both required - go back to the dealer and tell them to try actually reading the back of the DVD case where this is explained. I'm staggered by the idiocy of some of these dealers.

If they were able to read - they would see that one disc says Western Europe and the other says Eastern Europe!! Go back and demand they give you your other disc. Malcolm44
OK guys I have the proof that we are not getting what we think with regards TMC. Looking at Traffic Master's website they claim to cover all the areas on the map. Thay may do but they dont broadcast the data as can be seen from the following replies. What I am now thinking is save the £2000 option and get a good aftermarket one that has full functionality. That way I can get value for what I am paying for!!! Malcolm, The page you are viewing is the location map of our fixed camera network, not the FM broadcast coverage area. Although we collect traffic data North of Glasgow and Edinburgh we do not have FM broadcast within this region. Hope this helps. Your webpage coverage map claims to include the A90 (see http://www.trafficmaster.co.uk/page.cfm?key=network-map-4new), which goes to Peterhead. This is the area I am in, can you confirm this information. We do not publish our broadcast data anywhere for you to view. You may not be able to receive any messages in this area as we only have FM coverage for the Glasgow and Edinburgh regions. There are plans to increase our FM broadcast in Scotland within the near future. Hope this helps. craigyb
One of my customers with a factory fit RNS-E has been told that the free offer is over and he will have to pay £350 !!! This can't be true can it?

crasher
Listers Worcs said this as well. In fact i checked this with Tom Peterkin. The offer officialy expired at end of last year. I got charged 1/2 hour labour to do mine, but think that Mrs C's A6 will be done FOC even though both are retrofits

But the RNS-E offer runs until the end of June 2007 - go back and ask for the 1/2 hour labour charge (that they should NOT have charged you) to be refunded. TDiAvant
I updated my fathers A6 to MMI software version 2120 which enables TCM, it's just criminal that Audi charge £350 for what is such a simple upgrade.
