Diesel offers little advantage economy wise at Le Mans were the cars spend most there time at full throttle, but the Nurburgring is a very different kind of track and so diesels may benefit more there. [/ QUOTE ] I think the comparision between R8 (petrol, 2005 car) and R10 was 6.3 vs 7.0 mpg. Doesn't sound like much but still a useful 11% lower rate of consumption. [/ QUOTE ] They won't have that much of an advantage next year, the governing body has ruled that diesel cars must have a smaller tank compared to petrol powered cars for 2007. When comparing the R8 and R10 fuel consumptions, you have top remember that the R10 is actually more powerful. the air restrictor regs the R8 ran to in its last guise actually reduced its consumption.
