I know a pretty nice short cut up to the Cat N Fiddle too, or a long way around with full circuit back, but we can decide that on the day.

For any that dont know the area, simply get on the A6 (from Stockport / Manchester end - head for Buxton; from Buxton - head to Stockport / Manchester.) and get into Disley village - there is a cross roads and the Rams Head is HUGE and dominates one side of the cross roads. Car park out front. Its right next to the Train Station.

See you all there!!!! Jon. cool.gif169144-ok.gif

Looks like M1 J29, A617 Chesterfield, A619, A623, onto A6. Although M6 could also be an option for those from the south-west.

the best way by far - no cameras except just coming OUT of Chesterfield going owards Buxton / Mcr. They are front facing Truvelos and are active.......

Going this way, you will get some holiday traffic, but plent of safe passing places and leads you straight in 169144-ok.gif

A good alternative would be to come up the M1, take the A50 towards Stoke (Duel carrigeway all the way )and turn off upwards before you get to it on the A522 / A520 / A53 that takes you straight into Buxton. 169144-ok.gif

That was my plan I think as well!! 169144-ok.gif

Sily amounts of Scameras on that route and actually takes longer than going via Chesterfield due to them. Lots of sunday trafic, but again, some good passing places......

Many MANY villages with 30-40mph and cameras and getting through Leek is so painful it's untrue...... also, you are kind of going a little too much south on that route and have to cut back up to buxton to get across to the A6 to Disley..... 169144-ok.gif

Still, i used to use this when i got bored with going via Chesterfield to the M1 from here, so you wil be fin either way. Just make sure your Snooper / Road Angel is on and up to date!!! 169144-ok.gif

Without wishing to complicate matters further, the route I'll be taking is up the simply magical A515. Slightly biased here, as I'm emotionally attached to Derbyshire having gone their every year October fortnight school half-term. Also did Bronze Silver Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award based around Fenny Bentley. The drive out of Ashbourne is stunning. Spotted four (BMW) Range Rover prototypes testing there in October 2000.
