P_G
.... who can't get his SD cards to work! I know it is probably dead simple but can somene explain the process of gettign albums onto to SD card? Last night I ripped several albums through Windows Media Player which I then sync'ed to the SD card. SD card writer falshing away, everything looks good. I then created Files on the SD card and store the respective album tracks in each, job done! However I put the SD card in this mroning and it tells me the card is empty! What have I done wrong? I'll post this in the ICE section as well just to forewarn.
Cupramax
Are the files mp3 format? Media player might have saved them as WAV files which wont work... In media player go to Tools/Options/Rip Music and make sure its set to mp3 on the format button.
P_G
I thought I had done this but I'll check again. It was late last night that I was ripping the albums, so maybe in my tiredness I didn't but thought I did. Is this likely to be the problem? Does creating files on the SD Card and then transfering the individual songs into them cause any adverse effects?
chasdrury
The other thing that can cause the SD card to be empty is if there are No ID3 tags on the MP3's - if the Tags are blank they won't be recognised by the RNSe - this confused me for ages on mine when I was putting new songs on the card and they weren't there when I plugged it into the car! There were no ID3 tags, thats why! You can just create the folder on the card and drag files into it - no adverse effects whatsoever. You just need to ensure there are ID3 tags and that the files are MP3, and that there are no more than 512 track on the card. Chas
DaveP
You have to tell media player to rip as mp3 (tools, options, rip music, mp3).
JimLoskot
have you formated the sd card? also I wouldn't use windows media player to rip music. I use this method and its very good indeed. http://www.chrismyden.com/bestmp3guide.php
P_G
Thanks for the help gents, went home at lunchtime and found that Windows Media was ripping them as MP3 but when sync'ed the files were being converted to WMF for the SD card. Don't know why, I now have some albums saved on to the SD card but some are still being converted intermitantly which I have to sort out tonight. I have defaulted the rip player to MP3 from now on anyway via the route suggested.
