Dave
What do you guys feel about the price?.. rumoured to be around £400, then games at £50 each.
CarMad
Not terrible but not an easy purchase for many either. If you don't have a mega display to take advantage of Blueray its a hard pill to swallow. From what I've seen I'm still very sceptical that they will meet the March date but only time will tell. They might but as with other regions with next to no machines to ship.
Dave
For me it would be purely a toy, as i have no intention of putting it on the large screen (like the kids would allow me!!) and thus £400 seems a lot for a games machine, and even more so when i have the xbox 360 to keep me happy. Sparky
[ QUOTE ] What do you guys feel about the price?.. rumoured to be around £400, then games at £50 each. [/ QUOTE ] A source has told me games will be same price as current PS2 titles. As for the console, £400 doesn't scare me since it's more than a games machine too. It's not like the PS2 which was a games machine that could do a few things too. This new version was designed from the start to do a multitude of things. Will wait for a UK review though. [/ QUOTE ] But who hasn't already got the internet/dvd/cd/mp3 player? I'll only use it for gaming, admittedly the ability to go online is good, but I wish they would concentrate on making the most powerful sophisticated games machine rather than being a jockey of all sports and a master of none. I'll still buy it though.
Woppum
Yup I dont like the price. But I will stomach it as it should be good. Im very disappointed they havent moved the controllers on. They really are not the most ergonomic tool. Especially when compared to the 360's.

[/ QUOTE ] The reviews im seeing are saying that as a games console, theres little or no difference between the 360 and the PS3. There are some good features for geeks, that make it worth the money (linux, music/video playback), and early adopting gamblers (bluray).
Dave
and i see too that GTA is going to be launched first on the x-box 360! The only game i would buy it for would be GT, and that'll have to be excellent to see me spend £400. The only other thing is the tie up with Disney. My kids love the disney games like their golf, so if x-box doesn't produce the good there then i'll have to get one.

Technically, it's not the same at all. It has a 6-direction motion sensor and is wireless. It might look old/dull but for the majority of people it felt OK. Sparky
You could buy another controller/brand when it comes out, although a shame you'd have to.

[/ QUOTE ] What I mean is, if you have x budget to develop and make the PS3, sod the add-ons that people already have, andput it all towards next-gen hardware etc to make it the most advanced gaming console available. But obviously Sony/MS have taken a different route.
Sparky
I wasn't surprised that MS went down that route as Media Centre was a huge hit in the states, and the electronics industry wants convergance of gadgets so it's to be expected I guess. Having seen the PS3 menu system and intended plans, it aims to be a home-hub so will be interested to see what they do with it. Sony differs from MS in that the network will be free in large, but some content will be chargeable, where as MS charge a monthly sub. Quite different tacts from the two firms.
