And how about some reviews...

Heres one :- Review

And a PS3 vs 360 developers comparison :- Linky

[/ QUOTE ]

Speaking to a developer over here, who won't write a review for me, he said it's far too early for developers to say which machine is the best as Sony haven't yet released all the tools and tips on getting the most from their hardware, and the 360 has a long lead in development time under it's belt.

He did say however that he finds it easier to code for the PS3 in terms of getting things out of the hardware, but that the 360 is cheaper to develop on as they can port the PC version nearly 100% over to the 360 and just tweak some settings and GUI a little.

Will be interesting to see once the PS3 has been out for a while what it can do. It took developers quite a while before anyone was pushing the PS2 properly.

Thats the thing that baffles me. The PS3 was supposed to have been released at approx the same time as the 360, yet even now, im reading reports of developers only recently getting dev kits.

Surely some devs have over 1 years development time with the PS3???

I was playing RR7, Resistance and the Motorstorm demo yesterday and I would say there isn't much in it at all, at the moment Gears Of War looks better than Resitance, and RR7 doesn't look any better than RR6 on the 360.

But the one thing you do notice is just how good the video output is, very clean and crisp, almost makes the 360 look a little blurry, in a similar way the Sega Saturn always looked razor sharp against the N64 or PSX. Really nice vibrant images with razor sharp text etc.

I decided to buy one on the way home as the ability to run Linux and everthing that goes with it really appeals. However I hit a hare on the way home and need to see if the damage is going to cost me £200 or £2500 before I spend another £600 on a console. If it came with RR7 and Motorstorm I would have bought it there and then, but resistance doesn't really appeal, Motorstorm was awesome though, like a back to basics arcade racer, felt like a game made 10 years ago but with bang up to date visuals, there isn't loads of messing around in it, just choose your vehicle and race, and it has that just one more go feeling to it like yo get with the original ridge racer and sega rally etc. Spot on!!

All i'm reading about the PS3 at the moment is disapointment. I expect that to change when devs get to grips with the power of it, but there are lots of things people expected to be better. for example..the online aspect isn't very good.

Don't forget, it's very easy for people who aren't developers, or who've had a 360 for a while to just take shots at the PS3. Reviews must be taken with a pinch of salt as often Sony haters will do the review to protect the 360. Also a console which is as different as the PS3 is, over the PS2 will no doubt have problems at launch. The 360 wasn't perfect in this area either.

When the PS2 launched it was ok. Nothing stunning in my book. As time went on, developers learnt new tricks and games got better and better in terms of visuals and frame-rates.

Dev kits have been out for some time now, but it takes a while to produce titles. The best games will not be at launch.

Give it time 169144-ok.gif

They are about if you know where to look.

I am going to pick it up this afternoon. £525 for a Jap machine with an HDMI and component cable, and Resistance and RR7 are £49 each.

So the machine is £500 as the sony YUV cable is £24.99, so only a £75 premium over a UK machine which isn't bad at all really.

Glad I called this morning as it is his last machine, and he said the next batch would be about £100 more so he isn't going to bother until the price drops.
