BEB
I am about to buy a 225hp 2002 S3 and will need to replace the tyres shortly. What do you all recommend for standard 17" Avus wheels? I like the look of the following: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 BF Goodrich g-Force Profiler Bridgestone Potenza RE050 Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Any other suggestions/advice gratefully received ! Daz
I used to have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on my old S3 too. I couldn't fault them. Great grip wet and dry and long lasting too. Welcome to TSN

Tunbridge
I'm running the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 and they seem spot on to me, haven't tried the others to compare. Just bought a pair of the Bridgestones, not bad value at £104 each.
Mo-S3
Have a think about how you drive and what level of grip you want? Do you want the tyres to last for a long(ish) time? Do you want masses of grip? Different tyres have varying levels of compounds; soft or hard each having their own pluses and minuses.
BEB
Thanks for the feedback and your welcome. I can't see how some of you think the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 are really good and yet others think they're rubbish !!! Due the fact S3's are 4WD then I assume they offer good grip, in which case a tyre that lasts a while is important.
Mollox
Some of us drive harder than others No seriously, its all personal preference, its a factor of what you've tried before etc etc. I think if you go back a few years when there were loads of us with new S3s there was certainly a concerted and quick move away from the original Bridgestone REO40 rubber they came with. In my and may others' opinion, they were a proverbial bag o shite Its quite possible that the new Bridgestones are much better - and they most likely are but the RE040 on the S3 was a really disappointing tyre match. Mo-S3
Mine came with P6000's from new. Good grip but much better available now a days. Toyo's are a good tyre. Medium soft compund, immense grip.
g7jhp
I'd recommend Toyo Proxes T1-R's, thse give great grip, wear well and don't cost the earth.
batterseaboy
I've just replaced a set of Eagle F1's with Pirelli PZero Nero. Personally i prefer them....
Tunbridge
[ QUOTE ] the RE040 on the S3 was a really disappointing tyre match. [/ QUOTE ] Mollex, I'd be interested to hear what didn't you like about them? I'm no expert and don't really drive my S3 to its full potential, plus I've never driven the car on anything but Bridgestones.
s3ollie
[ QUOTE ] I'd recommend Toyo Proxes T1-R's, thse give great grip, wear well and don't cost the earth. [/ QUOTE ] Proxies get my vote too, but I am on my second set after 10,000 miles. Id rather have more grip with slighty less life time though
