mark88
I was hoping to pick up a used RS4 in the next few months but used prices seem to have remained rock solid ever since the car launched over a year ago. It's rare to see anything below 49k it seems. Anyone expecting to see prices drop soon? Like below 45k ?

Tizzy
Very nice looking Daytona Grey one with the much nicer 5 spoke alloys and excellent spec. and 11k miles for £47,480 at Five Oaks Audi in West Sussex - if that drops to sub £45K in the new year then I may well be having a look as it's the colour and wheels I'd want, although it's got the buckets rather than the Recaros. [/ QUOTE ] Is that car navy? If so its the ex demo and ive driven it. Can vouch that its a nice car! I recon you could pop that down to £45k now. Put in the offer, wait and see if they accept. As it has been said there are well over 100 RS4's on the used Audi website. I recon you have a good chance!
ashleyadam
Over a 100 I checked this week and was 70, I must say would seem likely that you can certainly get to near to that price of 45k.

mark88
[ QUOTE ] Why the £45k budget Mark? [/ QUOTE ] It's not that I have a budget, it's just the car isn't as attractive when it's only a grand or so below list, which many currently are. garcon magnifique
I'm looking longer term but kinda thinking the same. A good low mileage RS4 saloon will be awfully tempting when it dips below 40k.

garcon magnifique
And I suppose the B8 S4 won't appear until 2009... So by mid 2008, it could work one of two ways. The B8 A4 is out (or imminent), which puts pressure on used RS4 values, which means I could afford a nice/recent one. Or, the B8 A4 is out or imminent and it makes the B7 (even in RS form) look so dated I'm no longer interested.
Ian_C
Unlike the current B7 RS4, the B5 RS4 was launched right at the very end of the chassis life cycle - only about 9 months before the B6 came along. A genuine swansong model. RS4 prices were solid for the first 36 months: Only seems like yesterday when 2001 RS4 Avants were still making 35k - remarkable when you remember list before options was only 46,500. B5 RS4 residuals did not really seem to dip when the B6 S4 was launched (May 2003??). They did however seem to go into freefall when the B7 RS4 was previewed (22nd Feb 2005). spikeyboy
Im also very surprised at the current price of used B7 RS4's - makes no sence paying just under list for a second had car - well not in my mind Think prices will fall after Christmas - presonnaly i think its more what stealers think they can get rather than what people will pay for a used car - with 70 plus cars avaliable its only a matter of time before they need to start shifting some. Plus once the M3 comes out there will sure to be more RS4's hitting the market.

Ian_C
That thread brings back the memories. As mentioned back then, do you have them hosted in high res' anywhere Wopps. Ian
Tizzy
Woppum, made some enquiries with Four Oaks and it is indeed the same car - so I hope you didn't rag it too much! Am down that way for New Year and and have told them I may pop in and have a look / take it out if it was still there - they seemed keen and immediately offered it to me for a day if I wanted - the guy was keen to tell me how well priced it was in comparison with other dealer RS4's - I didn't tell him I'd be offering a great deal less than it's up at were I to do a deal! Woppum
That must be one of the first cars. Has it been a demo all that time or did they sell it and later get it back. What mileage has it done now? As said id put the offer in at £45k, sit on hor hands and see what happens. I think it is entirely possible as; I think most buyers would prefer the conventional wheels, its been a demo for so long. I can tell you when I drove it the owner was using it for his runaround and treated it with alot of care and attention. It was immaculate. Went like a train too! Tizzy
Done 11K miles now - didn't get the impression it's had more than one owner from what he said on the phone. I actually prefer the wheels (they're different to the RS6's by the way) to the standard RS4 wheel, and Daytona Grey is my preferred colour - the only downside is that it's got the buckets, where I'd prefer the Recaro's like I have in the S4 now. We'll see..........
Woppum
I think you will get used to the buckets. I hated the seats in the CSL when I first got it. But the more I use it the more comfortable they get!? Im now happy spending hours in traffic and get no back ache. If you like the wheels, clour, spec -id put an offer in. Although 11k miles does seem quite high, I might be tempted to make it below 45k!
Daz
[ QUOTE ] 11k miles does seem quite high, [/ QUOTE ] Really, I've done 10k now since June, eek, but they have been fun though
Woppum
I dont know, I always strive for low miles. Picked the CSL up with 7k - I wouldn’t have bought one with more than 10k and my target was 5k miles. There are many RS4's for sale with less miles for similar advertising price. I think you could get a bit off.

On another note ... Just to put to bed the Bucket seat debate .. I was concerned that would be uncomfortable .. in a word they are NOT. You can adjust the back in two places and height... I also love when you press the sports button they grab you, Andy
