In fact Ive just looked again at the cheap RS4 in Horesham and those wheels spoil it, they make it look more like an S-line than an RS4.

[/ QUOTE ]

i have to agree, if i was ordering a rs4 (i wish) i dont think i would consider for a second those 5spokes.....like the csl i think the 19inch jobbies set the car apart

Funny wheels? tongue.gifgrin.gif Those are the wheels the vehicle was designed with ride/handling wise! If I was buying an RS4 I'd definately choose the 18 inch 5 spokes over the 19 inch bling ones 169144-ok.gif

Sorry, but I dont believe this. On such a focused car like the RS4, if it was designed to work best with the 18's, surely they would be standard 169144-ok.gif

And I cant believe anyone would choose them over the 19's

Agreed, way to subtle. The RS4 IMHO needs the standard wheels to give it the amount of presence needed for a £50k A4. 169144-ok.gif

From what I remember the 19"'s are standard but at a '£0' charge option you can get the same wheels but in 18". I think the wheels we are discussing are actually a cost option! Might be wrong though, im sure someone will correct me 169144-ok.gif

The 19's are standard purely for Cosmetic reasons; I wouldn't have thought the 19's affect the handling/ride to any great degree (as if anyones ever held a new RS4 wheel they'll know how stupidly light they are!) but when the car was first launched Audi UK sent one to our Centre to give us a talk on the car and the person who brought it down was adament that the car drove nicer on the 18's and told me the suspension was setup on these wheels 169144-ok.gif He was quite a well-known ex-Rally driver but his name escapes me now but I have no reason to doubt him.

Both the cars I've looked at recently have had the 18" wheel option and IMO they look really good - the wheel is slimmer and quite different to the RS6 five spoke wheel and nothing at all like those of the S-Line. I'm quite keen to go for the 18's if I go for one, they look nicely different from the normal RS4. Anyone who thinks an RS4 looks remotely like an S-Line needs to visit their optician grin.gif (now the B7 S4 on the other hand, looks almost exactly like an S-Line!! - quad zorts apart)

The 18" are standard in Germany according to the sales brochure (which is more like a hardback book grin.gif)

The £45K (ish) RS4 has now arrived chaps (see below) didn't take that long did it. It's at Truro Audi and sounds good - bet the plate's not included - and shame I really don't want a red one (and it's a blo*dy long way from Lincolnshire!)

Audi Rs4 4.2 quattro

Finished in Misano Red with a Black Race Cloth/leather interior £45,995

Mileage: * 5,169 miles

Registered: Mar 2006

Transmission: Manual

Fuel: Petrol

Registration: RS04RED

I've also now managed a look at the Green RS4 - in the flesh it looks quite good actually - the green is so dark it looks virtually black (there's a Jaguar colour that's much the same) so the car looks very good - to my eyes anyway. However prices are clearly still dropping so I'm waiting for a while.

It will come with that reg, it's not a private plate. I thought it was my car (that i didn't take, for a minute) but mine had leather and was full of options.

If you fancy finding out more about it, ask for Steve at Carr's Audi. He's a good mate, and very knowledgable.

Dave what did you change yours for, spec looks great!

[/ QUOTE ]

Long story, but i ordered the car, but business commitments meant i couldn't take it. It was a fantastic spec.

And Carr's sold it quickly and were good enough to give me my deposit back. And i'll tell you what.. they have priced that to move it.. with a spec like that and a price like that, it won't be there long 169144-ok.gif

I thought Audi didn't allow these cars to be sold. I read somewhere (possibly on here) that they are sent back and stripped down. Not sure how true that is.

[/ QUOTE ]

I spoke with my contact at Audi UK about it about three years ago. We were discussing the TT's that used to be used at Brands.

They would return to Audi and have the components subject to most wear replaced and then they were inserted into the 2nd hand market.

I guess it's a matter of opinion whether one's a good buy or not.
