hixster
[ QUOTE ] The M25 going North, turn on to the M40 London bound has a huge 270 deg bend- that can be done the wrong side of the national speed limit [/ QUOTE ] Agreed , regularly take that route to work and that bend is great fun , first time when the car was newest I had the best speed round there, car felt more sure-footed as suspension was new and really firm, sadly get quite a bit of body roll since then , but still great fun all the same, ESP kicks in if pushing really hard
Woppum
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] chri5, M25 onto M11 north is my favorite [/ QUOTE ] Did that one today, at 80 [/ QUOTE ] Im very careful on that road. The R32 at those sorts of speeds I found, felt like it was going to push wide even though it never did. Im all up for testing the traction limits out on tighter, slower corners, but long fast ones and I bottle it on the road. Track training here I come... chriswastle
Is the price quoted here just bollocks? I am looking to upgrade to an R32 and i certainly havent seen any 7 month old 32k high spec cars going for 26k certainly not from a VW dealer i think unless fastlas or what ever his name is comes up with hard facts then its all tosh probably never had a gti either? zharca
Hi, in my own experience, dealers are selling the 3-5000 mile cars at most 1-2k below list which, as you say, can nudge 29-30k by the time you get the spec you want. The'yre also pretty firm about discounts and the only real maneuvering seems to be accessories or high trade-ins. I think they can get away with this because of the loooong wait time for a new build if you want a car right now, and the fact that they're a pretty united front. Hopefully, it won't change too much and the resale values will hold. Got mine as a 6000-miler (DBP 3-door DSG) previously registerd to Volkswagen UK (!) Dunno what they did with it, but at least everything worked and the paint and fit was perfect. Just hope it hadn't been a press car!
BrakeSnake
Well, my dealer is selling a black R with recaros etc, listed at around 30k with sat nav and an '06 plate for £27,995, so that falls in line with the 2k below list price from stealers. Seems Fastlad got a 'very' good deal indeed... As for stone chips, got mine done with the 3M laminate stuff, pre cut before actual mounting, done when new... one of the best things I've done for a new car

Vagabond
[ QUOTE ] lol cynical maybe i will stand corrected if i am wrong [/ QUOTE ] OK Christine, or whatever your name is. Here's the facts. VW dealer in Glasgow has R32 06 3dr, DBP with satvav, full leather recaro's, phone prep. £26495. MY GTI 06 3dr candy white bought from same dealer (second hand) 6 weeks ago for £18995. The dealer has offered me £18600 for p/ex. Why would you doubt that? Look around, as i did, you will find a deal!
Mollox
M25 a/c > M40 is great too Although the turn off from the M25 onto whatever road it is you need for the Windsor meet seemed like an awesome low-medium speed drift pan. Must have another look at that one

Irnbrukid
Thought that the DBP was discontinued take it you were going for another colour, if buying new. That was some deal you got take time of year was the factor, usually if you took a car back 5 wks old you would take a pounding in price. There are plenty of r32 about at dealers (mostly black) take depends which colour you want. Don't think they are as good a residual as people may have thought looked at them back at the summer and there was always some on ebay and stayed there for weeks and they were low 20's. rs32
good stuff - would recommend a short-shift if you get fed up with the standard lever travel. Makes the car much smoother to drive "with intent"
