Personally, If I liked the colour, I would take it and get them to throw in free servicing or something (easy for them to cover up). [/ QUOTE ] yea id rather stick with the wrong colour and save some money, but my brother had this happen and he is a taxi driver, he took the discount (skoda superb) but then found the local counsil would let that colour operate as a taxi Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just found out yesterday and was very suprised at what dealer has offered hence post to see if this is normal or could they have expected more. They rejected the car - so this is post is not so much for advice for them right now (probably about a week / 10 days too late for that), but more about what could have happened based on others experiences from dealers. The car they ordered was an an A4 cabriolet. Initially ordered in red - but changed the next day to grey ( back in September) Car arrived early Jan - dealer spotted their mistake and offered £500 off for acepting the wrong colour, or an alternate car in silver ( so stil not right colour) that had £1800 worth of extras over their original cars spec..but they had to put £1600 extra towards it. The other alternate was to reject the car and re-order for April delivery but the dealer would provide no car in the meantime. They rejected the car but have not re-ordered - dealer has refunded them all their money ( less part ex). I was suprised the dealer didn't let them keep the red car whilst waiting for new car to arrive ( in similar manner to Milo#s experience) I guess the problem is slightly confounded as they partexchanged a car in Sept at point of order and then sold an A3 privately the week before the A4 was due to arrive. Luckily they do have another car (down to 1 now) but are looking for a replacement for the A4 cabriolet ( though not one of these now - whole dealer experience has put them off the A4).... Sponge Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 I have to admit, I thought the favourable way Milo was treated very surprising and I doubt most people would get the same, as your friend has found out. It's certainly enough to put you off a brand for life. It may not accomplish much, but I would suggest writing a letter to Audi UK (cc the dealer), explaining what happened: how disappointed they are with the whole experience, never buy an Audi again, etc. Feedback is very important. By this time though it was registered in my name and I had taken delivery which is probably why they offered to let me keep it until the new one arrived. I offered to give it back as long as they gave me my p/ex back but they refused (my p/ex had already been sold). In your case nicknick, the mistake will have been noticed before the car was registered so they're not going to register it in your friend's name and let him drive it for 3 months while a new one is ordered. They will take the car into stock and get full retail value for it so they don't lose out. Indeed when the dealer cocked up the order on my second car missing off the heated seats, I never got to even sit in that car, they just told me to keep driving the original one. The third car was the avant (which I paid extra for!). You friend was within his rights to reject it. The dealer has done everything they are legally obliged to. They offered an alternative and then when that was refused, they have rightly offered a full refund. There's nothing unfortunately to say they are responsible for providing a loan car until a new one is ordered. The provision of a loan car is down to the good will of the dealer. I daresay had my dealer not punted out my p/ex immediately things might have been different. When I rejected it they might have given me my old car back along with the cheque for the balance and told me to be on my way.
