Be more informed replies along soon, but ASFAIK the styling was the only major difference. The standard exhaust went to a quad pipe system that apparently sounds much meatier than the B6 (unless you have Milltek's of course). The engine and running gear are exactly the same. The most notable improvements would be the revised ESP v.8 and the Xenons became bi-xenon with xenon main beam as well - B6 is just dipped beam. 169144-ok.gif

I'm pretty sure it's only the RS4 that gets the 40:60 torque split but I have been known to be wrong in the past!

I agree. The only other cars to have it are the S6, S8 and Q7 but so many people go on and on about how the B7 is better than the B6 without realising that for the S4, the changes are cosmetic only.

There's been lots of discussion on AudiWorld about the torque split. The conclusion they came to is that 2007 model B7s do have the 40:60 torque split, but 2006 models don't.

Personally I'd go for a B7 (having owned 2 B6's) because I like the quad exhaust pipes, the auto wipers and the 2 rear fog lights - none of which you can get on the B6.

The B7 platform S4 is the most recent version of the vehicle, having debuted in late 2005. Although Audi classifies it as a new car, the differences between it and the outgoing B6 S4 are primarily cosmetic.

Audi has, however, made a few notable changes, including adding new springs and dampers to the suspension and re-calibrating the quattro system to maintain a 40:60 front-to-rear torque split under normal conditions. The system is continuously adjustable though, and the torque split can change depending on driving conditions. The new "corporate/fish mouth" grill, narrow headlamps, "L" tail-lamps and quad exhaust tips help distinquish the B7 from the previous B6 model.

A B7 S4 does not have 40:60. It is 50:50.
