SPLiiX
I just wondered if anybody has actually pushed their car to the Limit. Well, to the limit of the ESP. I think that the cornering ability of these cars are far better than the "normal" driver. And I think most people are puzzled about ESP anyway and just do not understand when it is on and how to switch it off.... And when it would work... The thing is has anyone ever had the ESP light on over 40MPH round a corner and kept the foot to the floor? Are we brave drivers of what??

kite
Yes I've had ESP cut in on my favorite roundabout in both the A4 and the TT. I just keep the pedal down and ESP sorts out the grip
kermitfrog
Same here - only ever triggered ESP on roundabouts. TBH, probably gets used more often than that, just don't notice the flashing yellow sign as I'm too busy watching the scenery getting closer and closer and closer... Have found that ESP also activated if you hit a pothole from a standing start.
techieboy
Just had it happen for the first time today (that I've noticed). Was giving the car some real welly through some country lanes (checking out the RS4 ARB mod). Took some very tight bends at a fair old whack and noticed the ESP symbol flickering. However, I didn't feel it do anything. The car felt fine and not at all upset so I just gave it a bit more power. No drama. That must be as a result of ESP8 and/or quattro, as on my old FWD B6 it was really noticable when ESP cut-in. Was probably the first time I'd really driven the quattro aggressively through some deserted winding country roads and I've got to say, I LOVED IT! Cold, dry and sunny, perfect turbo weather. Tizzy
Yep, on greasy roundabouts and sometimes when booting it out of sideroads, never feel anything though, it's very unobtrusive!

mcgough
yea, i make a point of getting it to flash every time i use the car or see a corner!! just checking it still works, also like to here the tyres screetch just so i know they are still attached. Took a Left corner at 80ish (in 40 zone) mybees 85-90MPH i wasnt watching the speedo and the ESP light flashed although i was going quite smoothly and i didnt feel it working just heard the left rear brake pad chattering, and the light flashed in time with the brake pad. clever stuff, plus if you hold the ESP button it turns it off and hold it for longer than a few seconds and i have to get mine reset at audi.... darn thing. Only really seems to come on if you git it loads of whelly when turning sharply and im guessing its cutting out under steer.
