It's an option I think I have it on mine, but think it was part of an option pack

It wasn't an option on my 05 (54) car. It was just built into the cover/blind.

I take mine right out when the dog goes in the back. Gives him a bit more room (Large Lab').

It has been on both my A4s and is definitely not an option. The Audi dog guard is a separate item, about £200 worth of metal grille which fits perfectly. The one fitted as standard is a load restraint, which also works when the seats are folded down, fitting into another pair of slots in the roof just behind the front seats.

My fault - a very badly worded post....let me try again.

Last night I wanted to call it a "load something" but couldn't think of the word hence I used dog guard.

What I was trying to say is that I have seen on some A4's that the retractable load restraint is made of mesh (i.e covered in a material similar to a car sunshade) ..whereas on my A6 it is just netting. ...and I was interested in finding out if this mesh (as opposed to netting ) was an option or just the way all A4's come....

The only reason I ask is that it looks like it might srve a dual purpose - load restraint or also a a type of privacy screen - i.e something that I can see out of (through rear view mirror) but is less easy to see into ( when sat behind in a car etc) ....

Is this what it is ?

I always have the wind deflector up in my cab for that same reason - stops people noseying in from behind, but I can still see clearly through it through the rear view mirror.

Also acts as a kind of auto-dimming mirror at night too as lights dazzle less through it! grin.gif

Thats what I'm after ...now need to see if I can retrofit something over the football netting on my A6 restraint!

Yep me too! The demo I drove had the mesh/net/blind pulled up and I've had mine the same from day one. 169144-ok.gif
