Thanks for the quick reply. What site or company usually are the cheapest? (or most efficient)

Thanks

Tom

EDIT: Without sounding lazy. Could you please fish me a link. Just looked on Black circles, and there are different types. Like N3....

Tyre Size: 235, 40, 18

Thanks once again

Tom

Eagles are fine on the S4 with 18s - various pilots here love them, John Carter, Sam Dalton, Pincher being the first that spring to mind - but it is widely agreed the sidewalls are not strong enough for the heavier, mega low profile 19" alloy (B7) RS4 and RS6.

Very true Ian, but windscreen's do have an Audi part number, and may affect your warranty if you don't fit a "genuine" (it's got an Audi part number/logo) screen, to a car under which is covered by Audi warranty 169144-ok.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Affect what warranty? The windscreen isn't covered under the warranty. It is a disposable like tyres and wipers.

Merely following your lead that the Tyres are made by Continental, the windscreens by Pilkington, the wipers by Bosch etc etc.

I think you will find the windscreen is covered by warranty. Auto dimming lights have sensors in the windscreen IIRC. That is why auto dimming lights are not a thing you can retro fit.

i'm sure audi put what ever they have in stock at the time... My TDi came with contis, the S4 PS2, the RS4 PS2.

Audi don't make tyres, and they don't have a part number listing so how are they "OEM".

I'm finding some people on TSN to be very picky these days. For the first two years or so, the S4 came with Conti SC2s. That's all I'm pointing out - the thread is about tyres.

actually i think the light sensor is either on the top of the dash or in the rear view mirro.

I just had my windscreen changed and no light sensor on it.

I also have the F1's fitted - great tyre, i went from PS2's whch were also great but a bit lumpy when changing 4 tyres (circa £200 a corner)

Another for F1's, but I don't think they make them anymore, you would get the assymetrical pattern now.

PS2's, Toyo T1-R's, Dunlop SP9000 are also ones commonly mentioned. Me personally, I'm using Falken FK 452 now but on a 245/35 R19 and they have been good thus far.

Merlot, you are right but Audi appear to put tyres on cars they get good deals for, not what is good for it. I don't know of many people who liked SC2's and RS cars ivariably have Pirelli or Michelin on them when no expense is spared.

I think the comment was made as you couldn't really call Conti's OEM as they are not made by Audi.

Using that logic almost no part of a car could be called OEM.

Do Audi make the seats, the steering wheel, the airbag, the carpet, the door trim, the wiring harnesses, etc. etc. etc. No they don't.

Like most manufacturers Audi are, in fact, simply a final assembly plant for sub-assemblies made by others.

I reckon the test for OEM is "is it made specifically for XYZ".

The vast majority of tyres fail that test - but there ARE some tyres specially made for specific cars out there and those should be called OEM.

I stand corrected, there doesn't seem to be any pattern in tyre choice then.
