Hopsta
Mates clutch has gone in his TT, needs to get it to a garage.
cruiser647
Should be information in the manual. I know Quattro should [edit] NOT [end edit] be towed more than 5 miles with 1 axle raised. But that is permanemt all wheel drive.
Hopsta
this will be towed by another car
S3_Scot
surely just put it in neutral?
Hopsta
What about the haldex clutch ?
patently
Audi's guide to their recovery service says that quattro cars will need to be recovered by a flatbed truck (the grey note under the box on the RHS of the second page)
edo
I would have thought with the car in neutral it should be fine, but RTFM...
Hopsta
but Quattro and Haldex are different.
Dave
You can't tow quattro, but I'm not sure on haldex. I'll read up!
Dave
Just read a brief piece that you can tow for about 40miles, but slowly!. other than that it should be a flat bed.
Booster
My old 1.8TQ A3 had to be recovered several times (bloody coil packs) and they would never tow it.
S3_Scot
Surely the haldex clutch is disengaged when the car is in neutral? You can certainly push an S3!!
Calm Chris
I'm sure the VW R32 user guide said 'no' flat bed only.
chasdrury
Audi assist always said flatbed only for the S3 (old shape) we had... Chaz
Riz
Yes you can tow the S3 aslong as its not lifted off the ground i.e. the trucks which just lift the front wheels. I think people are getting confused.... towing a S3 with a rope/chain on the front bumper is fine, but if its lifted by the wheels with those trucks then its a big NO NO. I have had my old S3 towed with no problems at all. The second time it needed a tow Audi sent a truck which only lifted the front wheels... ended up damaging the front sump guard and I told the guy that he couldnt tow it like that..... rang Audi and they sent a flatbed instead. shark_90
You CAN tow a quattro, for no more than 50km and no faster than 50km/h. Not sure about Haldex but I suspect the same applies. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Paul
Official response from Haldex site is.... ok with one axel lifted... (screen shot from their site) However, Audi Assist do not tow, or use Spectical lift on Quattro fitted cars. They ALWAYS specify a flatbed. I personally would not accept anything but a flatbed/ or trailer for that reason.
