PeterS Posted October 14, 2008 Report Share Posted October 14, 2008 I'm guessing that Mike has bought a replacement CC panel with the heated seat switches, and that UBM interpreted it as his car already had the switches fitted :confused: At a guess you'd require heating elements, loom and relays (??) to make a retro-fit work. cosmicblue Posted October 14, 2008 Report Share Posted October 14, 2008 Back in the days when I had my Saabs addiction (a very expensive condition due to rubbish residuals) it was well known that all the seats had the heater pads in as standard. During production the connectors under the seats were chopped off if heated seats were not specified. Previous people who have looked into this have always found that the heating elements are NOT fitted by Audi unless you order heated seats - maybe Audi have a better logistics system than Saab? Chav Posted October 15, 2008 Report Share Posted October 15, 2008 the heated pads arent standard fit. you need lower/upper heating elements for each seat, wiring harness and switches. Cost is about £350 for adding them to the rear. (I enquired on my old cab) You will need to reupholster afterwards. As you have the switches, you just need heating elements and wires - literally. this is from an email from vagparts in 2004. I'd expect the prices to still be similar.... Heated rear seats? Yup! Sure can. In the crudest sense, the base parts are: Each seat base heater mat £107.95+vat each Each seat backrest heater mat £67.47+vat Heated seat switch (goes in the rear of the centre console under the ashtray), they are £27.83+vat each. I am retrofitting these I have the seats with the green plugs and so I presume are heated, I also have the climate control with heated switches. Just need to know what I need to connect heated seats to climate control and from climate control to fuse board ? reason I ask is I believe some people have retrofitted these ?? Mike_cabrio Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Share Posted October 18, 2008 the seats were delivered today but they gave me the wrong climate control it was from an 06 A3 , does anyone know if this will work in an 2004 A4 ?. Also i have been looking on ebay for climate controls with heated seat switches an there is an 04 A6 one which looks identical to the A4 any idea if this will work ? Davef Posted October 20, 2008 Report Share Posted October 20, 2008 Hi Mike, I did this retrofit last year in an A4 saloon and several others have also completed it. The climate control you have (from an A3) will not fit - you will need one from an A4 saloon or cabrio from at least the same model year that your car is. In relation to the wiring you will need access to the factory wiring diagrams to make up your own loom or you can buy a wiring loom from kufatec which is what I did. I think I will go with the loom from Kufatec (do I need for heated seats and electric seats (or just heated seats as already had electric seats ?). Also what are the best manuals for the audi a4 cab? Davef Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 Mike, you will not need the loom for electric seats unless your new seats are electric and your old ones aren't. Most seats have electric lumbar support in any case so there is a power supply to the seats. From memory there are 4 plugs: yellow seat airbag, brown power, green seat heating and black which is for the seatbelt warning. The kufatec loom (from KUFATEC GmbH) has all the wiring you need and also includes basic instructions. I needed a terminal release tool as I recall to release a connector from the fuseboard. I used elsawin which is very very useful for wiring diagrams and dis-assembly instros (try fleabay) Pm me if you want to talk it through. Both connectors are available behind your climate control, you don't have to buy any of the connectors since they already exists behind your climate control. Please contact a professional for installation ------------------- Seatheating Connector C,F are behind the climate control and already exist in the car’s loom. F has 6 pins Grey-wire with yellow tull goes into Connector F 1 Grey-wire without tull goes into Connector F2 Red-White goes into F3 Violet goes to C5 Yellow goes to C6 Red/white will be connected to Terminal 30 (permanent plus) and the other end will be inserted into the fuse box of the car (Fuse number 44). The other red/white connector of the wiring will be inserted into the other free slot of the fuse box. Why do you ask specifically about the passenger airbag? Both driver and passenger seat have the same side airbag arrangement.
