D1MAC
Did Glock back off to allow Hamilton through? Can anyone confirm?I really hope that isn't the case. I would hope so as well but it would be an interesting little irony after all of the talk of the last couple of weeks around Raikkonen & Alonso helping out Massa. Overall, a brilliant and hopefully honest end to what has been a somewhat shabby season in many ways. A shame that in retrospect, a season that has seen a talented young driver show his potential and reach the ultimate goal and a 'nearly man' in some respects show genuine title winning ability will be overshadowed by discussion & debate about stewards, the FIA and so on. Teacake
Byron where are you?? Still looking up that rule that explains why Bourdais was penalised for Massa running into him at Japan. http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/general-cars/112711-japanese-gp-banter-3.html#post1355092 A worthy champion in Hamilton, in spite of some questionable stewarding decisions this year. Anyone else get the feeling that he was keen to stay on dry tyres at the start at Brazil? From the tone of voice on the pit radio (Hamilton: "It's dry", McLaren: "We know from the safety car, but the rest of the circuit's wet") it seemed that Lewis wanted to roll the dice and the team were taking the cautious view. He didn't seem at all comfortable taking it easy and not pushing early on, and at the end didn't have an answer for Vettel. Massa ran some very good races this year, but wasn't on top form often enough. I get the impression that the Ferraris were generally superior, but their drivers weren't always giving their best. Vettel drove brilliantly today, and will definitely be one to watch. Alonso's got his groove back, which is good to see, and he's much happier where he is now. With Kubica and a resurgent BMW as well, next year should be interesting.
Mort
Just watched it - what a thriller.... Massa is a brilliant driver and true gent at the end in the press conference... But Hamilton deserved the title. I bet Hamilton loved watching that press conference. Three of the longest miserable faces in the world. Massa, the man who lost the championship, His arch enemy Alonso and that miserable **** Rikonan who has just lost his F1 title. Meanwhile Lewis gets to celebrate with his new girl friend.... Life just aint fair is it.
byron13
Well I can not say I am thrilled but well done Lewis you drove well and took your luck and chances when they came. Still think Massa had the edge and is such a decent guy but did not go his way this year. Roll on next year. Ps - been hearing lots of strong rumours about Santander moving to Ferrari BUT only if LH goes with them and that relies on RD retiring!!
burble
That was certainly a nail biting finish! As soon as Vettel went past Lewis my other half and I both thought the title was going to Massa - we were both very pleased to be wrong! Massa definitely deserved that race win, he was totally dominant. Hats of to Massa though, he was extremely gracious in defeat. A true sportsman. Biscuits
Like others have said, a great end race of the season... nail biting all the way to the end. Have to feel for Massa, top bloke and his emotions in the car must have been unreal as he went from world champion, to just race winner in seconds :sauer: Talk about Karma... that'll teach the crowd to boo all weekend at Lewis ! So very pleased with the result... however anyone hear the interview with his Pussy Cat Doll girlfriend ??? :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

bfc1912
Agreed. Shame the same couldn't be said about the Brazilian crowd  I don't think the Brits can complain about the crowd, we were the lot who cheered when Schui crashed at Silverstone. Plus is was also due to the fact that it looked as though Glock was in reverse and handed it to Hamilton (people not aware he was on slicks). Dave
True, from what Ron Dennis was saying it looks like they let Vettle past as they knew Glock was slow... if that is true (and i'm not sure) it was one hell of a call

Merlot
I woke up this morning and expected to find that the stewards had found some excuse for giving the championship to Massa. Thankfully they played fair!
BURTON
There was no reason for them to take it away. Everyone raced and there was no funny business. Glock slowed and you could look into it a million ways, but Hamilton is still CHAMPION of F1

Teacake
Ps - been hearing lots of strong rumours about Santander moving to Ferrari BUT only if LH goes with them and that relies on RD retiring!! Ferrari's best hope would be to get Alonso in as first driver as, like Hamilton, he's been out-driving his car this season. Alonso in the fastest car on the grid would be an extremely tough combination to beat.

There have been alot of should or shouldn't but he has won it and its all good. BBC and Full Slicks next year, should be good..
byron13
I don't like booing either but suspect most of the Brazilians were expressing their displeasure at Glock rather than at LH. Have to admit having finally manged to watch the coverage and listened to Brundel's last 2 laps of coverage where on the last but one lap he said Glock was still doing OK on the non wets and Brundle said it was not raining any harder how he managed to not only slow down by 18 seconds and rather nicely pull off the racing line when LH appeared I do not know!! Having said that I am not at all surprised as all teams have an agenda and am realistic enough to regard that as part of the sport like it or not. Anyway regardless what a climax to the season, bring on HD next year I hope!!

Tarmac_Terrorist
Look ! Here some cameras got the reason why Hamilton overtook Glock ! :oI wouldn't be surprised. I still can't realy quantify the loss of time. Has anyone come across any TV footage to show what happened. All water under the bridge I guess now, but I would like to know for certain if LH won the race or was handed the victory
Tarmac_Terrorist
Well, we've had Paddy Hopkirk driving gloves and some Michael Schumacker merchandise in recent years. So what do we reckon...Lewis Hamilton de-icer in time for Xmas.
Dave
If Glock really wanted to give it to him, he only had to pit.. that would have bought him out behind him anyway.

True, but wouldn't he have lost more than just 1 position if he pitted?

Glock needed to finish the race and not crash in the last lap to get him and his team points they desperately needed. Seeing him lose that amount of time isn't a big shock at all
