Got my steering wheel out and I`m really getting into it now, it reminds me of the old days playing GT3 A-Spec / Concept and GT4.... amazing!

Had a online game with a friend yesterday was fun but need more people to join in.

How about a TSN match up tonight?

Riz

Sorry i couldnt join you last night Riz... was just messing about with a mate who was trying to sort his wheel setup etc and just generally finding out how all this online stuff works. Once in a lounge i havnt yet found a way to invite other friends who are online... is it possible?

will be on it again about 4pm for an hour or so and then tonight from about 10pm ish...

just won the Veyron.. lol Its a bloody beast!

What level you on? Veyron is a bit quick I bet!

I've the Stealth GTR & SLS which are monsters (came with version of game I got), a few cars I've won via the special stages, just bought an M5 and tuned it a bit. Doesn't seem to be a tuning section for brakes though ?!

Still can't work out how to play online with friends though...

Im on level 18 i think. What are the Stealth cars like?

You can win the veyron after winning a championship (wont mention which one for those who dont want to know) and yeah, it just rockets past anything in its way and ruins other races which would have been a lot more challenging.

Ive tuned it up to 1190bhp and although its an amazing machine, i dont see why they allow you to get it so quick into the game. Also ive noticed some more floors in the game.

When doing the special levels, Rally inter level specifically, you have some flags at the start which are waving in the wind but the shadow on the floor frame rate is so slow you can see the shadow jump from one position to the other. I know its small and im really picking at it but i work in QA and spot these things from miles away.

Also when in replay mode taking a picture, at some angle you get a faint line down the car like its almost overlapped ever so slightly.

Your right about the brakes, you cant upgrade them and with regards to playing with friends it seems a bit clumsy and unintuative(sp).

Click on community, then click on a friend. If at the bottom where it says 'lounge' at the tea cup, if there is a yellow icon next to it you can click on it and try to joing your friends session. You can create your own session by clicking on your name and clicking on the cup and then 'join' which is a stupid as it should say create. then you can get your mates to joing you using the yellow icon method mentioned above.

I have been unable to invite friends which is very odd...

I got the Veyron last night. Had a little play. It's quite fun in a straight line, but a proper barge to turn. Haven't tuned it yet, does it get any better? I had my B-Spec driver using it in the "French hatchback" series of races vs 206s and Clios, he seemed to enjoy it

I've seen a lot about it that isn't up to scratch, and read about even more. I hope there's lots of room for updates and downloadable advancements, because it'll be five years, six months wasted development otherwise.

so do you think i was unfair calling it average? its not exactly the mindblowing experience they made out is it?

I think I'll offer to fix the shadows for them.

To answer your points in turn:

1) My point of view yes - I'm thouroughly enjoying playing this since the pretty average prologue. This feels a bit like GT3 to me rather than also the rather disappointing GT4 on the PS2. However saying that I think you should complain to the council ;)

2) I agree - the dancing girls haven't even turned up on my doorstep yet.

3) Personally speaking I've nothing against moving shadows - however it does make it hard to lurk in there if they keep bloody moving.

The Mclaren F1 is a bit tasty but the Mazda Stealth car is amazing and sounds sooo different to anything else.

I'm enjoying it so far, not too happy that you don't get many decent cars early on to help with the other races which is a shame. I've not had chance to play it much yet I think I'm on level 11 but I think that they need to restrict a few of the races more so you can only have certain cars and that they aren't tuned. At least that way you are going head to head with the other cars not bounding into the distance at a canter which is no fun at all.

What settings are everyone using for the cars anyway? I think I've got ASM and the steering assistance etc. off and TC to 4 and ABS to 2, its fun that way I found the ASM to be far to restrictive in some situations limiting the power to much.

carmad - im using the triggers for gas/brake, right analog for gears down for shifting up a gear and up for shifting down a gear.

With regars to aids i turn everything off apart from the traction control unless im doing rallying in which case that deffo needs to be off as its so damn restrictive on loose turf!

I think that GT5 has delivered what it was supposed to. More development will come in the form of updates.

It takes 6 months to render one car, thats right just one car and I think it was something like 2 years per track.

They have unfortunately pushed the hardware to its limits and this is why certain area`s like shadow detail was compromised although they have said they will have another bash at it to improve them. :D

Riz :)
