What would you do.

"others cars in the ramp" means "we're not taking it seriously and we think the other people will shout louder than you if we don't do their cars first".

I sympathise, genuinely, and I'd be telling them it would be left with them whilst you contacted the finance company to say they'd financed a car that had been mis-sold by the dealership. Then I'd be calling Audi UK and asking them how they intended sorting the dealership out.

It's sitting on my drive. Due to the problems I've had they will do the next service for free and as I mentioned that an alloy wheel has some flaking on it they have said they will refurb all wheels whenever i want.

I've looked at the service history and it shows that it had new front disc under warranty at 19000 miles. Also the the service schedule was on long life and the first service was done in December 08 , the car was registered in Nov 06 and it had 23000 miles on it at the time of the service, the last service was done just before I collected it which was at 39500 miles and included new pads , tyres etc...

I questioned the service history and they have assured me that it is correct and proper. I've asked them to put this in writing to me. They have recommended that I service the car yearly now though which for a vehicle like that I would of thought was standard?

I've given it a quick wash to personally check the bodywork and it looks lovely. I just hope that this journey improves for me.

Glad you have it sorted, am not 100% sure of the intervals but the car asks for a service when needs it - mine timed out despite having plenty of miles left, but I wouldn't worry too much - lots of people seem to prefer annual as the oild (nearly 10 litres !) gets a hard time in these cars. I have had 2 longlife cars and keep an eye on the oil colour but my driving must suit LL as worked out about every 2 years & the oil was only just blackening when went in.

I would enjoy the car for a month or so then get the wheels done - they are easy to kerb but it is suprising how hard can be to claim for these things years down the line, I fell foul of this once with a VW dealer.

Free service & everything sorted sounds good, you can start again & enjoy the car now !

It can't have had a particularly hard life then (contrary to other posts) or it would have asked for the service a lot sooner than 23k, sounds like it popped up the 2 year interval reminder rather than the actual oil quality/mileage thing.

Assuming the previous owner took the car immediately to be serviced when required.

Ok , on another thread somebody has stated that on the rs4 the first service on long life service schedule has to be within 20000 miles. If this is the case then my car after all of this has not be serviced properly. Does anybody know for sure?

I have a VW Passat 2004 1.9 TDI,I asked the dealer about the servicing intervals max mileage etc. They said the engine computer measures engine hours between servicing.

So for example it could sit on the drive with the engine running, doing no mileage and the service indicator would come on at the recommended interval.

This is an extract from EVO and their RS4 long termer:

"A couple of months later, Mr Lee, our art editor, loaded up the RS4 for a trip to Le Mans to see the Audis win again. Being the fastidious type, he checked the oil. I’d put a litre in the month before but Chee found that it needed another. Hmmm. Setting aside the concern of an apparently growing thirst for a moment, if you want to take advantage of the extended service schedule, which puts the first service at 18,000 rather than 12,000 miles, you must top up with ‘long life’ oil, not just regular synthetic stuff. It’s hard to find, and expensive when you do – Chee paid £17 for a litre."

I guess if the long life has been used then first service at 19K is just outside the recommendation but how do you know if the long life has been used???

Seems a bit daft to me....

Typical dealer - they will have known they were missing a key and a service book when they sold it. Will have hoped you would forget to save them spending 150 odd quid on the parts/service department coding the key.

I'd be more annoyed at having a second service book that has no manufacturing sticker in the front.

I'd be less worried at the missing key - more as to why - i.e. repo?

Reject the car. Now. Whilst you can.

but how do you know if the long life has been used???

Seems a bit daft to me....

When you buy the car the salesman taps in to google "sdjifsdjfklsdfjkl" (while staring hard at the screen) and presses enter and let you know that its had the long life oil and all will be fine. He can drop down to the workshop spining on his heels and come back up to the showroom and give you the same answer. Its in the spin you see....

Anyway, then when you come to phone up to get a service they confirm the that long life was not used and you need to bring the car in sooner to get it serviced.

Thank you, please come again.

That's almost exactly my experience with VW dealerships. Ask for longlife, told it is, next service, no it wasn't.

Said it before, but you're free to use any main dealer you want, or use any VAT registered specialist and your warranty has to be legally honoured (Euro regs etc.)

I'm well aware of this, but prefer whilst in service to use a dealer rather than a specialist, once out of warranty I'll happily use a specialist (which I will be next month). However, my local dealership in Portsmouth were rubbish and I found a much better one 15 miles up the road in Petersfield, more reasonable and much better customer service so I was happy to use them. +++
