Imho some cars look more suss than others. If I were pc plod i would want to have a look inside for any drugs. Putting winter wheels on it is a sign of a good respectful owner/driver but do it no favours regards my point.

Maybe I'm basing my opinion from driving a dark coloured sports hatch with tinted Windows and the fact I have been pulled a couple of times recently for "routine checks".

Quite possibly the owner has never been stopped.

No good for me at all but that's a lovely looking car. If I was buying used, I would be swayed by something like that which had a proper service history, including receipts.

It's why I've kept every bit of paperwork for mine from the original invoice, every service sheet including recalls to every tax disc. When I do decide to sell it, I hope it helps demonstrate it's been properly looked after and maintained rather than treated as a workhorse.

I think it looks fabulous and very well looked after, clearly. A credit to you.+++

I do have a question though - which I'm hoping the owner will take in the good intention in which it is asked - with no offence and purely through curiousity.

Isn't it rather expensive?

I looked it up in a guide I managed to get hold of last week - and they're listed considerably less. However, it is a guide. So I went onto Autotrader - and on there I noticed an awful lot of 2006 cars with much less miles (30's in some cases) and very similar specs (not the same, but similar) going for £5,500 retail through garages. Not Skoda dealers, granted, but with warranties and the like.

I'm sure it is worth a premium to an enthusiast but I couldn't help but think maybe there was something about it spec-wise I'd missed (I know Xenons etc, but it was still a good £1k above lower mileage cars).

I should add, I've little doubt you'll sell it for a good price, none at all, I just wondered if I was missing something that a VRS enthusiast might not.

Thanks for the comment.

I've looked at numerous VRS's up that are for sale on forums and PH and it's priced quite reasonably for spec, mileage and age. There's quite a few priced higher.

The price is 'ono' but i'm in no rush to sell if I don't get what I want.

Cheers

I've just had a look on autotrader and there's quite a few priced alot higher and these are basic spec.

Best of luck with the sale,

I always laugh at people saying,Its a bit expensive,seen others cheaper,blah blah blah.Oh really.

Have usually found the so called cheaper ones end up costing more over ownership, and have more annoying dings and marks etc,so stick with the price, a genuine buyer will always pay the premium

nonsense 95/100 times the advertised car is over priced and a good buyer will find one with same spec for cheaper!

the amount of nonsensely priced cars i see that dont sell - dont understand it. if price not realistic, why advertise.??

above comment not aimed at this car as have no idea whats its worth.

Why's that? It was a genuine question that I wanted to understand. It may well be the case that the 'others' are less well maintained and not as good overall, and indeed I referenced this in my post. It is very clear I wanted to see what the difference was. I don't think I've ever commented on the advertised price of a car by a forum member in almost 10 years of browsing car forums. I simply happened to look this one up because I used to know someone with a VRS (and a very good car it was too) and I was intrigued to know what they went for these days.

Divine was good enough to answer.

However, I will say this to you Divine, I'm entitled to pass comment on any thread on this forum and unless I'm told not to comment by a moderator then I'll continue to do so. My question was completely genuine. It's not going to stop an interested party contacting you about the car if they want to buy it. +++

It would be greatly appreciated if we kept my ad strictly to people who might be interested in buying.

Thanks

Sorry, Divine, that's not really this place forum is about - you've had a number of positive posts in here about your car - this drags the thread up to the top and also increases it's options of being viewed via Google trawls, so you should take that as a positive thing.

TBH, it's a prime candidate for being pulled as being a thread put up for a friend by Abs (we have rules about advertising on here, which you can see as a sticky thread at the top of the General Marketplace). I'm not going to pull it because it's now a discussion point and a well viewed thread.

MrMe clearly explained the intent of his question and outlined that it was in no way malicious, so I don't see there's a problem with it.

Best of luck with the sale.

I cant see anything negative in any of the posts so can't really see a problem?

It would be a bit off to post negative comments in a for sale thread though, and it's generally frowned upon by most forums, but I can't see any here.

I'm not a big fan of Skoda's having owned one, but that was probably more down to the dealer (who's long since closed) than the car, mine had the same 1.9 pd130 engine as the VRS and I have to say it's a cracking engine, and IMO, far superior to the later 2.0, and in a small car like the Fabia can really fly, I'd have it straight up to Shark for some decent remaperry!

Looks like a nice car, If my mrs Polo hadn't just scraped itself a new MOT I'd be on the lookout for a small car like this, as really it fits the bill perfectly, small and economical, so she can potter about cheaply without using loads of fuel, 4 doors for loading the kids, and a bit sporty incase I ever have to drive it!
