Mook
V-Power that is. Stuck 60 litres in this morning and it clocked over £80. Was it this high last time - I really can't remember.
Tipex
Cheapest diesel I can find locally is 129.9p/l. That's without doubt the most expensive it's ever been, closest we ever got before was 120.9p/l. And it not going to go down, ever, according to the politicians they've been interviewing on 5live, high prices are here to stay and we need to get used to it! Scotty
I just checked my figures (for petrol) and since Feb '10, so 11 months or so, it's gone up £0.80 a gallon
Andrew
I think it was about this level back then wasn't it? I'm grateful my travel costs have decreased massively - well petrol anyhow, I do now pay for a flight to Scotland every week! I filled up on the motorway over Christmas and that was a frightening experience, approaching 140p for V Power I seem to recall.
Milo
I started buying Optimax/v-power in March 2006 when I got my first 2.0T. According to my spreadsheet, this is what I've paid since then (I could post every sale but it would be even more boring.....): March 2006 = 92.9p June 2006 = 98.9p Sept 2006 = 92.9p Dec 2006 = 93.9p March 2007 = 93.9p June 2007 = 102.9p Sept 2007 = 98.9p Dec 2007 = 106.9p March 2008 = 109.9p June 2008 = 120.9p Sept 2008 = 115.9p Dec 2008 = 92.9p March 2009 = 97.9p June 2009 = 105.9p Sept 2009 = 109.9p Dec 2009 = 112.9p March 2010 = 117.9p June 2010 = 122.9p Sept 2010 = 120.9p Dec 2010 = 128.9p Jan 2011 = 131.9 The middle of 2008 was when it went daft - I've got one transaction @ 123.9p

Mook
OK, that's bloody impressive that you've managed to keep track of all that lot. Albeit a bit sad
Milo
The joys of having to log every single fuel transaction as my employer pays for my fuel (well, should do but somehow I seem to be paying for some of it now).

stooH
I filled up the GTI the other day with Tesco 99 - sorry 'Momentum' - and was just shy of £70, i'm not looking forward to it tipping over that milestone.
billy2shots
Has the country just given up and accepted the price now. The country went mad when it topped £1 per litre and caused many a strike, but now it just seems we raise our eyes a little at the pumps and drive away and forget about it. DanG
Just pulled a graph of RPI from the begining of 2006 to end of 2010 and prices have risen by nearly 17%. Thats not just fuel, thats everything, food, electricity, water, insurance, council tax, medicine - everything you spend money on.... but does not include the VAT rise early this month. Everything, seemingly, is getting expensive out there.
Booster
I'm pretty sure that at the time of the fuel blockades, it was around 85-90p per litre. Can that be right???

bazza_g
Not sure when it was last this level but I am sure that there was a whole lot more fuss! Where are the protests and blockades or oil refineries? This time around everyone seems to have just said 'yeah ok' ? ?? Filled up this morning 138.9p/litre for v-power at the M3 services near J5 - that'll last all of 5 mins.....
Andrew
Just enough to get you to just past Jct 1 where there is the other Shell garage on the southbound carriageway. If anyone would benefit from a Shell iPhone app to show your nearest Shell station, you would!!

Much of this is down to the price of oil AND the exchange rate. Obviously not aided by Ozzy Osbourne doing his impression of a Thieving gypsy c4nt. TIDYDUBS
Honestly, I have got somework to do today.....There a few dips where I've used Tesco 99RON stuff. WITH respect to what Bazza_g said with you on that WHY ARE WE NOT DOING IT!!!!!!!! Dont start me off about petrol again Thing is why is it we are not doing anything about this P$ss take in fuel prices like the Europeans do????? All we do is sit there and take it and hope we will suck it!!!! Well im getting really peeved at paying an extortionate amount for fuel when all the other countries pay a mere pittance! Why are we MUG enough to put up with it????? Edited January 17, 2011 by TIDYDUBS
Cuprabob
I'm not really too happy with petrol prices either as I have a 120 mile total daily commute in a R32 but my understanding is that prices in mainland Europe are not much cheaper, correct me if I'm wrong. The one is obviously the US here it is relativley cheap.
CarMad
In the interest of fairness and with the help of Google, we have the 10th highest Petrol price and the second highest diesel price. So there are other countries paying more than us and I haven't seen their riots recently.
TIDYDUBS
True but the Saudis pay something real ludicrous about 7 pence a litre. France at my last check was still cheaper than us MUGS! We need to make a stand

It's no cheaper in France, Belgium was more expensive, Germany about the same, etc etc. If someone came up to me and offered me some Pink Diesel, i would take it. Its a victimless crime and a big FU to the Government A lot of the smaller independent filling stations sell it I'm not sure I'd want to run a modern engine on it though, I don't know what standards it meets.
