We were passed by one of these on the Autobahn earlier.

I was cruising at around 110, but it went past like I was standing still. Sounded amazing, too.

Yeah, it's pretty quick when it wants to be :)

Great choice Mr B, how are you getting on after a few days?

Took it for a run to Oxford and back yesterday. I think it's safe to say its a very capable, comfortable and exciting car. Only thing I've not really liked so far is the parking sensors/display, almost archaic !

More to the point, when is it my turn? :coffee:

:mwah ha ha ha ha:

Complete with a wall of NASCAR-like V8 meaty goodness following in its wake?!

Would LOVE to know what it sounds like to be overtaken by my Milltek liberated S4 doing 155 mph

Congrats Biscuits. I thought about that interior for mine but bottled it. Looks great. I'm currently sitting in MB Brooklands as mine's being serviced. Lot's of nice metal here but overheard a funny comment from one of the service advisors, "C63 saloon needs new rear tyres, how many of those have we done this week".

I'm having to be quite careful with the interior, but I do love it :)

Funny comment from service advisor. I have noticed in Comfort setting it always sets off in second and I think with it being a double-clutch rather than torque-converter type box, it can be a bit "all or nothing" sometimes... making rear wheel slip a regular occurrence. That and the LSD locks up fully with very little effort.

They got a 507 Edition there ?

No 507 in the Brooklands showroom but I thought I saw one outside in the driving experience fleet.

Re tyres, I'll admit it, I drive like a wuss. 12.5k miles completed, front and rear tyres all at 4mm so at that rate, I should get over 20k miles out of the set. Quite surprised considering they're Yokohama's. Lot's of guys on MB forums claiming 6-7k miles for rear tyres so they must be really 'enjoying' their C63's.

Which Yokohamas? Advan Sport V103/105s?

Mine shipped with "Continental ContiSportContact 5P"s, they are eye wateringly expensive down under...

As for enjoying it, just over 500km on it, steering now bedded and wheel about 2-3 degrees left of straight, so it is getting a full laser/optical wheel alignment tomorrow... Local MB dealer changed recently, with all new staff, and they have no idea who the top gun aligners and wheel/tyre fitters are. So I will take mine to the guys who've been doing all the local Porsche's for years, not to mention my R32, Boxster, C4S and R36*. +++

* XKR and Panamera weren't around long enough for me to wear their tyres out...

Cool. I really do rate the top Yokohamas. By the time I'm due for new tyres (3 weeks?), it'll be Advan Sport 105s for my baby as they have replaced the 103s (which I have on the R36).

Alignment was very interesting. End result was dead straight steering wheel, and a car with aggressive negative (-2) camber all round. Needless to say it handles quite well. +++

Up on the hoist it looks awesome with the massive exhausts running beside the propshaft to the massive air cooling fins bolted to the (on my car) open diff. Weirdly, the ony major adjustments for all 4 wheels was toe... Seems camber and castor are fixed. The rear wheels have the adjustment part of the toe bolt hard up against the fuel tank - why AMG couldn't have put them in the other way was subject to a bit of discussion and a lot of swearing. :)

fyi: These are the factory alignment specs for the C63.

FRONT (PER SIDE):

Camber: -1 to -1.8

Toe: .08 to .25

REAR (PER SIDE):

Camber: -.9 to -.1.9

Toe: .28 to .52

There's so much out there on C63 wheel alignment, and there's quite a bit relating to uneven tyre wear too. Seems they are setup from the factory for your more average driver with a bit of safety factor built in. Haven't had mine done but I can report my tyre wear is perfectly even all round at 4mm. Quite remarkable for front's and rears to be wearing identically and evenly. So on that basis, I'm probably going to leave it alone as I'm not sure what I'd gain.
