theduisbergkid
I hope this is of interest to a few TyreSmokers. There's quite a bit of info to digest so post your questions here or drop me a line if you need any help. Starting in January 2015 we're running a monthly sprint event at Curborough, Staffordshire. Sprints are an ideal way to get into motorsport with minimal cost and are a great way to enjoy some tracktime with your car. A sprint is 3 laps on a dedicated circuit, you race against the clock with no-one else on track. You get plenty of sprints throughout the day and your times are recorded. It's far less strenuous than a trackday, there's far less risk of any damage to your car and we even have a couple of half-decent prizes on offer. There's a one-off £50 fee to register, then it's £60 per each event you attend. You can come to all 12 events in 2015, or just 1, you have the same chance of winning one of two decent prizes. Caterham Cars and Morgan Motors love what we're doing and have each offered a car for a weekend for our two winners. There'll be other prizes too, this isn't an event for willy-waving Impreza drivers on crack, we want to see cool, quick and interesting cars being driven on track by folks who want a gentle introduction to motorsport with like minded enthusiasts. That's me in the 3 wheeler pictured above, setting one of the slowest lap times ever, for example. All the info I think you'll need is online here: http://www.motorpunk.co.uk/features/sprint-series/2015-motorpunk-sprint-series/ I hope to see a few of you there!

cruiser647
I like the idea! I have also watched a few of the crash compilations from the Nurburgring..... Scary stuff at all the usual places - ie, anyone who touches the curbs in anything other than a heatwave! Will you keep reminding us about it please? patently
YOU SHOULD ALL DO THIS. I'm serious. And I'm not being paid to say this. Sprinting is great fun, you have the competitive edge but without 98% of the risk of trashing your pride & joy. Curburough is also a very nice place with mainly soft green stuff around the track rather than hard red & white stuff. Even if you only do it once, give it a go
Tipex
Main problem for me, is Curborough is in the arse end of nowhere, and a frigging long drive away. Also, I can't do weekdays during term time, but I may well pitch up for a session in the summer hols. Great idea and great fun.
