Those late-model 306 'D turbos' with the 2.0 HDi plant are abolsute gems. 169144-ok.gif

I completely disagree, after having all 3 PSA cars in the fleet die with engine failure due to the crank pulley being made of plastic. One at 13,500 miles, one at 18,000 and one at 93,000. The first two (lower mileage) were thankfully at low speed and didn't create too much of a problem, however the 93,000 one happened at ~90mph on the A50. It caught fire.

The 306's, and indeed all Peugeots, were better with the 1.9 90bhp engine 169144-ok.gif

Never heard of any 1999- PSA 2.0 HDi 90 and 110 engines catching fire? UHOH7.GIF

The HDi sitting downstairs under the car-port has passed 115k now and seems as strong as ever. Has averaged 49 mpg since we picked it up with delivery mileage. By comparison, the previous Xantia 1.9 TD averaged just 43 mpg under our family ownership, and unlike the current one, it had already been run-in as it was a our main dealer demo. The HDi has mountains more torque: simply no need to take it further than 3500rpm, no doubt one of the reasons it gives much better economy.
