Daz
For those coming for the weekend here is a useful list of hotels / motels / B&B's. Accomodation Link In the past most of us have stayed at the Old Hall Hotel or fairly close by. Which is in the centre of this map. Here's another link for info on Buxton
TP27
Daz. Boys tour I assume? Just have to lay the ground rules, OK? TP.
RossG
Yup, still on for this! The 23rd/24th is her hen weekend - so in theory I should have a weekend pass BUT, it was explained to me this evening that if there is any last minute wedding organisation required then I will be expected to drop my pre existing plans to travel to England in a heartbeat. Of course, I agreed wholeheartedly Does accomodation fill up pretty quickly? TP 27 & Barry - when are you going to go down?
Ritey
Would like to partake in this venture, having said that my dissertation is due in a few days after so can't commit at present. Will have to see how my final months at uni pan out
CarMad
Don't live that far away so shouldn't have any excuses about not turing up. As for the other half... MMmmmm maybe she could come ? (Note to self. Musn't post when tired, come up with strange suggestions.)
Hopsta
I'm still up for this, will book myself into the same hotel as before. Anyone remember if you can reserve spaces? Graham

ian_m
yeah, i would prefer steak to curry!
RossG
Nooooooooooooooooooooo Its got to be curry Beisdes - you can get steak and chips in most Indian restaurants - unless they are really posh I think the person who has had to travel the furthest should get to decide... Not saying that's me - but its one way to decide. Edit to say: how late can we leave booking accomodation? Is there a Travel Lodge or anything near by? And yes, i probably should read the above links more closely... Have you guys booked rooms yet?
ian_m
so whats going to happen at this meet? any events organised for the day?
Daz
At present the agenda hasn't changed Friday: Those who are free to drive up and go out for a drink or 2 in the evening. Saturday: Goto Alton Towers / Sightseeing / Shopping for the women. Saturday evening: Food / Drinks Sunday: Go out for a casual drive around the local area However the options for Saturday can change - at the 1st meet I went to some of the guys went off on a Skid pan training day instead of going to Alton Towers. I'm trying to see if Karting is an option on Saturday too. I am open to suggestions for events for the Saturday. The agenda is left fairly open so that people can join up with us at any stage over the weekend.

Colin M
Is there a Travel Lodge or anything near by? Please! These are soul-less places with no bar. It will be better to all stay in the same or adjacent hotels/BB so we can empty the residents bar at 3am.
ChrisR32
With me being based about 20 miles away, i suppose it'd be rude not to make an appearance! Having said that, the misses is busy booking a holiday for us in April so i'll have to see what dates she does that for! Sod's law and all that!! RossG
LOL - that is a good point. Still, they are cheap But I will look at the hotel that seemed to be recomended above and see if I can get a reservation for the Saturday night. Is that where everyone else is planning on staying?
Daz
The Old Hall Hotel mentioned above is not particularly cheap but there are plenty of cheap B&B's nearby. Buxton is not that big a town, there's plenty of places within easy walking distance.
RossG
Will look into them. Don't want the old 'tight jock' label applied to this - I am getting married and going off on holiday for 3 weeks, two weeks after the meet And I'm sneaking away for this as it is
Colin M
I've emailed the Old Hall Hotel to ask for a group discount for the 23rd (and poss 22nd if people want two nights). Will report back. In the meantime, is there a committee organising this or shall we form one? I volunteer to book accomodation for those that need it. Please pm me your budget pppn and whether you want one or two nights 23 or 22/23rd April.

Daz
Cheers Colin, you are appointed Accomodation Organiser. The rate I got for a standard double room booking was "Bed and English Breakfast is £110.00 per night for 2 people incl VAT" It'll be interesting to see how much lower they go. I'm also planning to be in the area on 6th March to check out the route for the drive on the Sunday - make sure all the roads still exist.
ian_m
Has anyone booked accomodation yet? If you can give me details of how many people, I may be able to get a discount with Alton Towers!!
