Completed the A4 set

After much trying and testing over the last month or so i have finally settled on a new B7 S4, i was very impressed with UBM's phantom black avant, the new shape has really grown on me, so after trying the new A6, 2.5 allroad and the RS6, i have now completed the A4 set, this is the first saloon i have had and after a first run in it yesterday, trip to Knockhill and back, i am very impressed.

It may allbe in the mind, but the whole package just seem's to be better to drive, the suspension set up rides the bumps better than the B6, but feels no softer, the steering responds sharperand the brakes pull up a little quicker.

The interior is still the same just the 3 spoked wheel has changed, the seats still hold you perfectly but the tiptronic box is just lovely bowdown.gif press and go drivingis great, i always said before i would not have the tip box but with the sport mode and the wheel paddles there is just as much enjoyment on the twisty bits asthere is with the manual box, and after being stuck in a traffic jam for near 20 minutes on the way home, so much easier than clutching a manual.

Have waited for a while to get what i felt was the right car, i have now found it. It looks fantastic in black and has all the options to make driving the car very pleasurable, and it has that lovely V8 grin.gif

Great choice Craig!

It looks fantastic! sekret.gif

I bet it sounds fantastic too!

Glad you agree about the B7 - I find the ride fantastic - the S-Line package is much more solid and the whole set-up is much better!

Congrats and a great choice!

P.S. What are you getting next week.... coffee.gif

Nice choice mate, just need to change the Zorsts at some point to make it sing properly and you'll be sorted.

Interested in your comments about B6 vs B7 handling, I've had a B7 S4 for 6 hour test drive and didn't find it any better than my standard B6. Only over serious pot holes could I distinguish.

Looks like each to their own; must admit though I'd want one of the B7 steering wheels, wonder if it can be put in a B6?

I have a fairly rough stretch of road i have to drive just before i get home, both the Avant and the cabrio were harder ridesover the bumps than the new B7, i agree that on the open road both B6 and B7 handle the same but the B7 definitely handles the rough stuff better, on the same note, i recon the Avant was worse than the cabrio over the same rough stretch of road znaika.gif

Think it depends on the RS6 and what's been done to it. Followed a saloon in my neck of the woods last Friday and windows up I could hear the RS6 V8 rumble better than mine. Also felt the vibrations from but it looked a standard exhaust sekret.gif

Don't get confused with the performance.. my Abt Rs6 would have left any S4 for dead, but in terms of engine power delivery the NA V8 is better than the Bi-turbo V8.. it revs more freely and breaths better.

Before my RS6 i had an S6 with an N/A V8.. the forrunner to the new V8 in the S4.. you wouldn't belive the differnce. blush.gif

I've got no doubts the performance is better overall, the acoustics of that engine though appeared to be better enough to drown mine which was a bit weird. The absence of turbo is noticable in terms of power delivery even for us mere mortals who have moved from S3 to n/a S4 V8 by selling our souls. FIREdevil.gif
