Scotty
I recently bought the ISOFIX retro fit kit and installed it earlier this week. Today we went out trying seats. Either the seat squab was too deep (meaning any support leg either would go upright or dug into the seat base) or the seat would need a top tether as it wasn't secure with just the ISOFIX. I think on normal A4 seats it would be fine but the sculptured Recarco rear seats made making it difficult. In the end we ended up with a conventionally fixed car seat. I thought that this wouldn't be as good but there's literally no movement when it's fixed in. Of couse I wanted a seat that would offer good safety and some of the ones I've seen (very popular ones in fact) didn't seem to offer much side protection. In the end we settled on the Recaro Young Sport. It's a 9 month to 12 year seat and offers good side protection until you turn it into a booster etc. I know some people will think I bought it coz it's Recaro and for it's styling but that's their issue. I bought it as it seems to fit perfectly and offer very good protection. The bonus (and this is obvioulsy secondary to the above) is that it's only £149.99, will last a long time and as far as a kiddy seat can, looks quite good. I hope this is helpful to any other S4 owners who may be faced with a similar issue. If anyone needs an ISOFIX kit for an A4 (I have both left and right) then let me know. Nelson_R32
The Recaro Young Start is indeed a great seat we sell these at work too So now we know the reason why Audi don't fit ISOFIX to S4's
Sponge
Looks like a very comfortable seat and good value to boot.
P_G
Cheers for the info. ScoTTy, I now know what P_G junior will be sitting in and save a bundle on getting ISOFIX retrofitted. More money to other little 'modifications' in the interests of the young 'un aire apparent.

rottenbend
Hi Scotty Bought one of these for my daughter last month. Fits very well in my S4. It just feels more solid and inspires more confidence than a lot of the other seats we looked at. Seems to have done very well in tests as well. And of course it does look good
SPLiiX
You probably know this already but remember that in the back seats you can pull the seat belt all the way out and then retact it and it will not go out again until it is fully retracted again. Great for securing the like of these baby seats!!!
Scotty
I did (used it for the rear facing seat) but a good reminder for those who don't know.
the911sc
Hi Scotty, Not sure what you mean on the seat squab thing... I have the Britax ISOFIX Duo and it fits in the S4 and the A4 a treat; solid as a rock on the isofix fixings.. Only problem is that the recaro front seats are quite big and my daughter loves kicking them with her dirty boots on!!....grrrrr!,,
Scotty
The seat squab issue was not for the Duo. It was for seats which have the additional upright support post which goes onto the floor. i.e. those with a separate base. The problem we had with the Duo was that when connected to the ISOFIX, even when pushed back it still wasn't firm. i.e. it rocked to and fro. Whether it was installer error or not I don't know. To be honest (just personal preference) I didn't really like the Duo too much anyway. It seems very open with not much in the way of side head support etc. Interesting that it fitted in yours though. Strange.
Merlot
The Duo has a little movement up and down in the rear of an S4 but its minimal and the ISOFIX grappers on the Duo move to allow for this. Anyway its horizontal movement which is far moire relevant. It doesn't need a top teather which is great also. I like the fact that it can be seatbelted in as well so it offers two means of simultaneous fixing.

SamD
Just bought a Recaro Young Expert for the S4, not only does it look great, but it is one of the most solid car seats I have seen! Matches my Black and Silver interior very nicely too. Got it for £150 which is also pretty competetive!
P_G
I am due to procure myself two of these, one for each car, Definetly the most sturdy car seat I've seen around. The fact they colour co-ordinate and are Recaro is just a bonus! Did you get Microfibre or Bellini cloth?
SamD
It is the Microfiber one

P_G
I don't think there's any real problems Ashleyadam, just the Recaro baby seat sits a litll more snuggly in the Recaros aduly seat. I foufn with ohters I've tested there is still a little movement, with this there ain't.
wyliss
Is this seat ISOFIX compatible and also will it suit up to 12 years of age?.......if so I think its a purchase
Scotty
It's not an ISOFIX model. As I mentioned earlier in this thread I got this seat as I had problems with some front facing ISOFIX models. When I saw how secure this fitted I had no worries at all about it using the normal seat belt. It is incredibly secure. The seat is designed for 9mnths to 12 years. wyliss
Hi Scotty, Just checked on the Recaro website and says its for 9months to 4 years !...puzzled now
Scotty
Perhaps you're looking at a similar seat or you've misread it. It does say for up to 4 years but that's for the 5 point harness. After this age you remove the harness and just use the 3 point seat belt. This one is only upto age 4 though. This one does fit on an ISOFIX base. I guess it depends on your needs and how often you'll be removing it. From a safety point of view I have no question in my mind that the seat belt fixing I'm using is 100% safe. The seat really is rock solid.

It is an option (still) though and about 50 quid i think. The one downside of isofix for me is that you doo have to fit the plastic runner guides onto the isofix bars; its nothing major but it does leave a small mark on the leather after a while. Good job the baby seats live in the S Line most of the time anyway!...
Jarrad
Only seat available that is Isofix and suits a child up to 12 years of age is Jane Indy Team plus. No other seat from any other maker will seat child abouve 4 years of age and is Isofix. By the way does anyoneknow how easy it is to retro fit the isofix latches in an S4 with recaros? And where i can get the kit?
