Just been told that Audi UK have stated to Nottingham Audi that they are not to update my vehicle as it was not built with Nav system and therefore i should pay for the upgrade! mad.gif Typical.

Leicester have said that 2002 are not covered, only from 2004 models.

Has anyone with the B6 model had theirs done? Can anyone help please?? confused.gif

Lots of B6's that have been retrofitted have been upgraded free - just check this very thread for details.

Find another dealer - both Nottingham Audi and Leicester Audi are talking rubbish. Why not contact Tom Peterkin yourself and get an email which says "my car is eligible for the free TMC upgrade" - a dealer would have to be a complete idiot to argue with that!

Things move on. I have already contacted Tom but as of yet I have had no reply.

DERBY Audi have told me to call in on Friday. Natalie (service) again said that my car was not fitted and therefore they would need to check compatability, ie correct system. I mentioned that it was and she said if that's the case, i can have the Disc update FOC RESULT laugh.gif169144-ok.gif

Seems that Nottingham really don't know whats happening, as i said, i had to give them the part numbers in the first place. They've also said only a couple of people had contacted them ref the upgrade!!!???!!!

Such good cars supported by a staff of well trained morons smashfreakB.gif

PS PetrolDave, I work in Fareham and am still waiting for the local dealer to contact me here!

Don't hold your breath! I haven't been contacted by either Portsmouth Audi or Southampton Audi - although Camberley Audi have offered me a free winter check at the beginning of March! (I thought Spring began in March?)

Anyone got any LEGAL ideas/phone numbers or references Please confused.gif

I suspect that, as I said previously, dealers have had some of their warranty claims for the discs rejected by Audi UK when the VINs have come up on their system as not having been supplied with the RNS-E. This will be leaving dealers out of pocket for the retro-fit units they've already supplied 2007 discs for and thus they're going to be a bit more wary in future.

Frankly, although it might be a bit galling for those with retro-fitted units, I can understand Audi's attitude on this. The totally free supply of new discs which normally cost hundreds of pounds is actually a quite magnanimous gesture on their part, IMHO, and I don't really see any way they can be legally pressured into supplying discs for retro-fitted units.

I am aware that many people have been told by Tom Peterkin their their retro-fitted units will be covered but this doesn't necessarily mean he's correct. If you're lucky enough to have such an email and can use it to pursuade the dealer to give you the discs then great, otherwise your only recourse would appear to be seeking out a dealer who is still willing to provide the discs, although if my suspicions are correct the number of such dealers will dwindle over time.

It's worth noting that, although many have been told by Tom that retro-fitted units are covered, when I spoke to him prior to getting mine done, he specifically asked whether my car had been supplied with RNS-E from the factory, which completely contradicts this advice. Further evidence that he may be mistaken? Whilst personally I've had nothing but helpful service from Tom, I know many on here are less than impressed with his communications.

I cant see how you can push for a free TMC upgrade on a unit that didnt come from Audi.... I have to say if I was Audi I wouldnt be doing retro-fitted cars.. Can you not use an update CD from someone else and do it yourself?

If an Audi Sat Nav unit didn't come from Audi, where else did it come from? They are from Audi, all of them.

And if you'd bought one through the proper Audi channels I'm sure they'd accomodate you with the upgrade but I don't see why they'd be inclined to help if you bought one through Ebay. Short of noting down all the serial numbers as claims for the new discs go in, how are they to know that the unit you're trying to upgrade hasn't already had the discs claimed against it?

Doesn't matter a sh!t where the unit came from, it for an Audi and they are supposed to have TMC working.

If people are having problems getting the discs free then if you want you can PM me, I'll give you my address and you can send your DVD down and I'll get the upgrade for you and stick it in the post to you.

Anyone who pays for this is mad.

I'm sure a lawyer could argue the case but is anyone really going to go to court over this issue?

At the end of the day, if a dealer refuses to provide you with the free 2007 disc set because your unit is retrofitted then you haven't a legal leg to stand on. It's certainly worth mailing Tom Peterkin and, if you get a favourable response from him, waving this under the dealer's nose to try to pursuade them but other than this, go to another dealer.

Derby Audi gave me a printout of the codes that the car was built with from factory, (this was their get out clause). I mentioned that my car had a centre arm rest fitted by the Nottingham dealer and as such, would that mean if there were a recall/problem with this item that mine would not be covered because it was not originally fitted in a factory?

(Bearing in mind that i paid more for the armrest than a factory fit option!!!!!).

Deathly silence...............

Another point is that if AUDI were not happy with retrofit, why would they configure my DIS unit to show the Nav unit Info FOC? I've used my dealer quite a lot and they know my vehicle...they sold it to me. Surely they have the units details and would be able to ensure that only one set of disc's are issued.

I understand that AUDI do not want to get "Ripped off", but as previously stated, these units have been paid for at some stage and so should that not reflect in their replacement policy?? Either that or reduce the cost of the discs, it's no wonder there are "back-up copies",duplicates and plain piracy problems today.

As to dealer knowledge, i don't think that ANY manufaturer stands a chance whilst there are excellent web sites like this where individuals show interest in vehicles to such a depth, but the staff they employ only persue knowledge as a matter of employment.

<font color="red"> If you have an interest in a subject, then you will research it!!

Rant over, Now to persue another angle of approach!!! openfire.gif

The only reason the discs are being paid for in the first place is because people who have made the 'commitment' to buy factory RNSE have been waiting for Audi UK to sort out TMC for over two years. The RNSE Retrofit is not Audi Approved or Audi Recognised; I was emailing someone at Audi UK regarding approving RNSE as a Retrofit only yesterday - the answer was a firm no!

At the end of the day, Audi UK are showing a commitment to the people who paid £2150 to them, not to the people who paid £500 off Joe Bloggs.

Back in December people wondered why I bought the 2007 disks off eBay ... I have a retrofit RNS-E and just didn't want to get into this sort of hassle. I just don't have the time, or want the blood pressure, to ring dealer after dealer until I get the free retrofit.

Having said that the communication from Audi UK DOES say ALL A3, A4 with RNS-E (which has been extended to include A6 in later communications to individuals) - no mention of whether the RNS-E was OE fit or retrofit. So it does appear that Audi UK are promising one thing and their dealer network is delivering something different ...
