I have been sent a PDF estimate so far listing all the parts and costs. I dont mind posting it if you like, but I don't know how to take all my personal details off. Is there anyway I can do this, or open it with word so I can copy and paste certain bits in?

Take a screen capture of it and then block the bits out the same as you do in photos. 169144-ok.gif

I think the only thing to learn here is you should drive 'very' carefully when going in the wet...

[/ QUOTE ]

Although I chuck the MR2 around with gay abandon when the roads are dry, I drive like granny when it's wet (having had a few sideways moments). It is confusing, though, going from the RS to the MR2, and back.

This from someone who grew up with RWD for the first 20 years of my driving career.

Right Ok. I have worked it out. You simply re-save the PDF in an accessible text format...

Holy smoke! EEK2.GIF

That list makes it sound like the car is almost written off!! frown.gif

Quick question though, they refer to re-aligning the front fog lamps, IIRC there are no fog lamps on a CSL? confused.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

No, thats no way near a wright off. Its purely cometic. The plastics and the carbon fibre. The suspension, chassis engine etc are all fine. As said, I literally slid in to a hedge at about 10 miles an hour... tongue.gif

Sorry to hear about your crash mate, but you did all that at just 10mph? Not doubting you, as I obviously wasn't there (and don't want to me flamed by the rest of the board wink.gif), but a 10mph crash into a hedge shouldn't cause that amount of damage imho. Although the £2k labour bill must be hard to swallow frown.gif

Any photos of this damage Woppum? Sounds like the garage are taking you for a bit of a ride. Not sure you can do much about it but surely there must be a deal to be struck somewhere with that much work. At least that way you might not have to re-mortgage as much ...

I don't know why people are surprised at the cost of repair.

This is a specialist, largely carbon fibre comprised, performance car that cost nigh on £60k new.

It can be worth £40k after 18 months, £20k after 4 years, and £5k after 8 years....but it'll still cost what a £60k car costs to repair.

Not so much the cost mate, but the amount of damage done. Hitting a hedge at 5-10mph shouldn't leave the water bottle hanging off. Hitting a solid tree at that speed shouldn't leave the water bottle hanging off!!!

IIRC the CSL that went off on video on some track (hitting a solid wall at approx 30mph) only have £10k worth of damage done...

I went to the crash site today to have a good look around. The ground was covered with hardened tar right over the pebbles so it was very slippy. As said I went to turn the corner, under steer, which went straight to oversteer.

The water bottle is situated on the left hand side of the front. What happened was a branch, from the bush, pierced the carbon fibre fender and knocked the water bottle half out. The crash was at 10 mph at the most. As said it was like being on ice. It was a slow motion crash and nothing I could do was going to stop it. You have to see it to believe it.

And Pete, I know how wise ye elders are, but I dont think any advise you could have given me could have helped this situation. The best thing I could have done was coast around it about 5 mph.. Its now done and im safe. that's what matters. training is of course on the cards. But then my immortal sense of driving is of course changed too. I hope to get on a track soon so I can exploit and learn the car...

BTW, I was in the Konigziegg garage today talking with the owner. It turnes out a well know racing driver friend of his, plowed his CSL in to a bush and has paralyzed his wife... I dont know whether it was because he was trying to seel me his GT3 or just that he genuinely believed that, but he said he wouldn't wish a CSL on his worst enemy...

I am going to keep it for a bit, but I may choose to change it for something a little less hairy like an RS4.. I love it, but I have been slightly shell shocked...

Of course my mind may change when I gt it back...

Woppum: DON`T give up on the CSL, mate. You`re just feeling a bit cheesed off with things at the moment, and the car as well, possibly because you feel it`s let you down mate.

The Beemer`s not let you down mate, it`s just down to pure bad luck, which can hit anyone at any time. If you had no grip, you had no grip, and an RS4, or the like, can`t change the laws of physics.

Have a search on the net for some vids, or something, of the CSL being blitzed around the `Ring etc, and it`ll remind you what a fantastic car you`ve got.

Don`t get rid because of some bad luck mate; sh1t happens, as they say................

Take care.

Those are the words of a complete idiot. You can't make sweeping statements like that!

One of my two best mates was nearly wiped out when the driver of the GT3 he was in lost control at ~160mph (entry to Schwedenkreuz), but that's no reason to discount the entire GT3 range of cars. It was the driver being an idiot, not the car.

Woppum, I'm sorry you had your accident but you have to keep the car. Had mine out for hours last night, in the rain (Cups too - horror of all horrors! lol ) , and the grin just gets bigger and bigger. Never ever tire of it.

Get your car fixed and get back to enjoying it 169144-ok.gif

Dont worry guys I wouldn't sell it straight away. And im sure once Ive had it back for an hour or so I'll take him back with open arms. I didnt mean to say the CSL was a dangerous machine, just thought id pass on the salesman's statements (and as I said he did notice me take an interest in his GT3!!). If my opinion still counts for anything I actually think the CSL is a very easy and predictable car to exploit. I still stick to my guns and say the accident would have happened even if I was in a 116...

Hehe, I realised they were his words not yours. When I said "You can't make statements like that" I didn't mean YOU - YOU

If there's any CSL doubt in you then pop up to M6 J16 and I'll show you some CSL exploitation that will remove that doubt jump.gif

...and MrMe, well I don't like the 6'er, does that answer your question? wink.gifSMOKE6.GIF

ps - I was a bit older (maybe even wiser wink.gif) before getting my CSL. Worth thinking about?

indeed, one of the things my Dad taught me about driving was treat roads with rain after a dry spell like it is ice

glad it was only your car and pride that got dented
