SamD
My bullet cam arrived this morning, so I thought I would take a quick trip out and test it. Not the best day for filming due to the fog and crazy light, but hey. The camera is a 480 line Sony camera, and it outputs to a Mobibox solid state recorder. The mic is a little mono job, but adapted to feed both channels. The camera was mounted on my wing mirror using some pipe lagging (to reduce vibration) and some velcro ties. The mic was in the passenger footwell, but I forgot to turn the aircon off so the sound is a little distorted I think some more experimentation is required there. Will be good to test it with a proper mount as well as on a nicer day. (might have to wait for YouTube to process the video)
Daz
Sam, where did you get it from? Maybe worth posting over on Scumball too as there are some over there who would be interested for next year.

Calm Chris
The jump round the Carrier at the beginning was a tad impatient (I couldn't see if they were going left or right as you did ). Very grey day, colour pick up only seemed to be present on very near imaging. Great little toy that gave a good feel for your driving. In this weather would it not be better to mount inside the windscreen with the availability to clean screen and not get the camera lens dirty? SamD
[ QUOTE ] Great little toy that gave a good feel for your driving. [/ QUOTE ] Not sure that is a good thing [ QUOTE ] In this weather would it not be better to mount inside the windscreen with the availability to clean screen and not get the camera lens dirty? [/ QUOTE ] True but I had no way to mount it in the car easily, and the lens is not actually exposed to the elements (it is sealed in a waterproof casing), so cleaning it off is not a problem
Calm Chris
Here's the trick- with a windscreen there's a nice facility called "wipers". On a long shoot, say the Ring are you going to get out and clean the lens every 5 miles- less if it's a dirty wet road . Buy anything cheap from a Car parts shop that has a good suction dashboard mounting. Even a £3 mobile phone holder, adapt it with a few cable ties or velcro tie straps (nicked from the IT rooms spares kit) and hey presto a mount

I have a video camera (with mount) for inside filming as well

How about 19 seconds or so in where you cross the white line to overtake the stationary traffic before the filter lane is actually available and then cut back across the chevrons to take the right turn lane? Maybe where at 56 seconds where the, what I'm assuming is an A road, limit changes to a 50 and you can still be heard accelerating.... I expect the rest of the time you were 'well' within the speed limits though.

[/ QUOTE ] Which was a dashed line which as far as I am aware is legal to cross. I'll give you the chevrons, I should have come back over earlier, but rather than risk getting to close the the stationary cars I was over cautious. The chevrons were boardered by a broken white line not a solid one so you can make use of it. As John Cave would say, you've paid to use all the road, so use it. Arch, I suggest you invest in an Advanced Driving course, I can thoroughly recommend this one
