Mook
Got Mrs Mook's car up on fleabay at the minute and, as expected, we've had about 15 messages asking how much to buy it now, what's the reserve etc. Having got back to one prospective buyer with how much we'd take for the car to end the auction early, just got this response: £**** - Is this serious? Given the mileage and model glasses guide suggests more like £3,000 less than that if immaculate. There is an identical car/mileage on Autotrader but with leather for half that price from a trader right now (I am enquiring). Let me know if you would take less or best of luck with your sale and I hope you get what you want (See if the bids go past £3k since that'll be dealers out the way - after that few people tend to offer unless they have seen the car and agreed a ballpark price). Thanks very much I did politely suggest that he make a sensible offer on the car if he's interested and, if not, wished him the best of luck with his dealer bargain). Is it just me, or is the world full of knowledgeable tw*ts who seem hell-bent on sharing their vast experience with you of the best way to sell a car and how it is only best to accept ludicrous offers? randellp
Yes it is true, what do you think we're all doing on here!
gizze
I have had a dealer calling me all last week about my car, keeps offereing me just over £23k for it telling me that big engined gas guzzlers are not selling and anything over £10k private is a no go! Hmmm, so why do you want to buy it from me then?? Then you get the people like Bob, who keeps emailing me to let me know there is a 2003 avant on autotrader with 47k miles with no warranty, part leather, no Bose and no Nav for £20k, if I would match this he will be up tomorrow with the money for mine. So my car is 2 years newer, 2 years warranty, £5k's worth of extra spec and he wants me to drop it to the same price as he has seen that other one. Hmmmm, yeah go on then!! DHA
Had similar when I sold the Boxster. Some guy from PH said "the market dictates £xxxx" where xxxx was £3000 below the trade offer. I replied with a "if you can buy one at that price then excellent!" a week later he asked if I was still willing to sell at his original offer. I replied No F Uck off Cntu

theduisbergkid
There is always a cheaper car than 'yours' somewhere in the world (ebay/autotrader etc), but will the buyer risk buying it ? I hate tyre kickers....
drpellypo
Nobody has emailed me about MrsP's alfa on ebay - not even scammers. Are Alfa's THAT bad?!
drpellypo
Oh, I wonder if it's because I've put this at the bottom of the auction: Please note: I will IGNORE any emails containing the following: 1) A dead uncle who used to live in a Palace and has left you loads of money. 2) An agent who is based in London and who will purchase the car on your behalf 3) An offer to pay more than the car is worth because you've bought some PC's and Printers and the difference will cover those. 4) Content written in bad English 5) A request for any information that is already in the auction 6) An offer to pay for the vehicle by cheque without even viewing it 7) An offer to arrange shipping oversees. EssFour
I had the same problem on fleaby when selling my S3. The usual load of nonesense like: cash sale - thats a shame I was looking for beans, there is a simialr one going for xxx less in Norwich - yeah, so when have you not bought it then, will you px for a 1997 golf diesel - Of course. Only if your left kdney is included. I don't know who are most annoying fleaby idiots trying it on or agents calling after seeing your advert in Autotrader. Thinking about it I prefer the idiots of fleaby. At least you can be a complete cnut back.
drpellypo
The agents are a nightmare! If someone calls me and asks if the car is still for sale, I say yes, then I ask them if what they are about to say is going to cost me money - as if it is - I'm not interested! [/ QUOTE ] I think I read somewhere that AutoTrader were going to offer a service where they filtered calls/enquiries about your advert before forwarding genuine people on to you direct. That's a service worth paying a bit extra for, if you ask me.
