Classic games such as Ico, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Grand Theft Auto will also play on the new machine.

In order to play the older games, PlayStation 3 owners will have to update the console's system software

Hmmm, wonder then if GTAx is OK?

deffo keep us posted on the ps3 when you chaps get it.

I got a PS2 a bit after they were first released and then picked up an X-box about 3 years ago onc eit had dropped alot in price.

I still play the PS2 more than the Xbox but that is purely down to the games. I cant see myself getting aPS3 untill the price drops and better games come available.

I may even wait for it to force the price of the Xbox360 down and then buy that instead... online gaming at its best I hear.

Used the PS2 online and it was crap.. much prefer the MS online setup.

That baffles me, i cant find all the games i listed on that link i provided, yet quite a few sites have mentioned GTA working. I wonder if PS1 stuff is working, and its only PS2 titles that arent???? I certainly cant see the 1200 games that are reputed to be working on that list.

Apparently some games are going to work 100% and aren't featured on that list. I find that a bit odd that they'd not just show all games with a status. I'm trying to get in touch with someone that will confirm it but he's out of the office today.

Either way, I've wanted a PS3 for a while and there's quite a bit about it that I'm looking forward to, not only that, but it justifies the 40" LCD that's getting ordered shortly afterwards grin.gif

I'll do a mini-review once I've got it.

What game(s) should I get though? I'm not sure what will be good on it. Launch titles rarely are that good.

Theres going to be some pi$$ed off people, GTx, GTAx, GoW, FFx and MGSx are all not listed, and are the biggest titles for the PS1/2.

I thought that for a moment, but in fact clicking on one of the alphabet letters only brings up the first dozen games. You have to click next to keep scrolling through the titles beginning with that letter. All the PS1 and PS2 Final Fantasies are there with the incredible exception of FF7. A mistake? A compatability problem? Or could it be related to the rumoured remake?

Tekken, Tekken, Tekken!!

I have an on-going match on team battle mode with my mate. It is currently 54 plays 47 in his favour at the moment. I must improve!!

I assume that the PS3 will have some sort of multi-tap facility? Micro Machines V4 four way is a great laugh grin.gif

Spoke to game yesterday about package and If I had no children I would cancel. They have no deal at all ie offered me package of with 2 games from a choice of about 6 for £504.97 a saving of £0. Anyway anyone decided what games they are getting and is anyone aware if Tigerwoods will be available.

I've got to say that i reckon £500 for a games console and a couple of games is steep. I would be interested in seeing a blue ray DVD being played on a 50" plasma..

and i'm not convinced that many people by a PS3 and connect it to the main telly in the house.

While in the US recently i saw the film Ultraviolet being played on the PS3 onto a v expensive 1080p Panasonic 50" flatscreen. All i can say is notworthy.gif The film itself is rubbish, but visually its on a whole new level.

That said, on the 20" TV next to it, showing the same content, it looked nothing special. HD Movies really do come into their own on huge, high spec TVs.
